Get that drag bunt cheese card, my dude
That's what I try ,.also
But it doesn't always come up and if you get the lowest tier one it doesn't work if there's runners onPlus you take the chance of the bunt turning into a pop-up.

Last year one dude made a video about how he was basically able to beat most showdowns by only bunting. This year is no different

Showdown can be frustrating for sure and almost seems rigged sometimes to fail.
For me, I guess it's a deep frustration that the difficulty isn't the same across the board. The same veteran difficulty and sliders in a VS CPU game is the same veteran difficulty and sliders you should face in every ounce of content that is veteran difficulty. Whether it's showdowns, moments, or conquests. One difficulty. The same All-star Difficulty and sliders used for a VS CPU game should be the same All-star difficulty and sliders in every other ounce of content. Whether it's online, conquests, showdowns or moments. If The difficulty and sliders were the same across the board then there wouldn't be such a huge leap in difficult in online and showdowns and people would be better prepared for other content they don't normally do. They would know what to expect when they see the difficulty rating.

This has been one of my biggest complaints with this game over the years. The game plays differently in different modes. It needs to be consistent across the board.

I have avoided Showdowns since the first year they introduced it. It's not fun, more frustrating, and can get my blood boiling. Plus I lose 500 stubs faster than going to a casino and betting on black. This mode makes no sense if most people (other than those incredibly great players or influencers) don't enjoy it. I only play offline, online is like playing a Bad News Bears game, not a baseball game. And since I believe last year when they added the big boss games and nothing in between, made it worse. Every year I give it a try, hoping it got more playable and fun, but nope. Now I rather grind out TA games to get team XP instead of taking on any of the Showdowns. At least I enjoy that time and win a good amount of times. Plus I gain stubs and not lose them on the entry fee. Which is also stupid. Actually, in past years I remember being so frustrated with the mode that I stopped playing DD and started a Franchise and RTTS. Not sure what they are thinking when making a mode that frustrates and makes you want to throw your controller at the monitor or TV. I bet that is the least played mode in DD.

Agreed on CPU defense being legend level and the manipulation of sliders causes double plays with a much higher frequency. I know the mode is supposed to be challenging but all star mode in most modes is very comparable to showdown on veteran difficulty.
you are absolutely right - the amount of ridiculous double plays that have happened to me makes me laugh - its a mode tweaked on the backend sliders - they shouldn't even call it rookie / legend / AS / there is no real setting because of how hard they tweak the sliders

I'm currently stuck on the TA Central showdown. I keep failing on the mission to face Liam Hendricks with only 6 outs and the score tied. The 6 outs given are just not enough. Showdowns are already brutal, miserable, and never fun but this just doesn't seem fair. I've been able to finish every other Showdown but this one stops me every time. The defense is on God mode. The pitching in showdowns says veteran but other than PCI size and pitch speed seems like Legend. Showdowns are a great idea but the difficulty needs to be greatly reduced for the casual player.
Well I've beaten all the showdowns this year by using timing hitting. Being patient. I've never did that before. Usually fail and never try again. Homers were my kk ey to winning

i hope this helps you guys struggling but i have said to others in previous weeks the strategy here - i never lose these showdowns and my last 2 of them were all perfect leading up to final boss
- use exit velo perks only
- focus your lineup on purely power and hitting - disregard "out of position' as fielding means 0
- be patient at the dish - tire the pitcher out - don't swing ever until 2 strikes
that is really it - you will win if you do this and i hope again that this helps those who are having an issue with this mode - it gets you a lot of stuff so its worth it on a NMS

Showdown can be frustrating for sure and almost seems rigged sometimes to fail. If you are consistently stuck on Hendricks, draft hitters that hit well against right handers. Make sure to pick the hero time perks, which will be activated on every single pitch. Since you are only needing one run... sit on your pitch against him and eventually you will get it. Sometimes it's best to take a break and be locked in when you face him. If you still have trouble... go practice against Hendricks to get used to his pitches and once your hitting him consistently in practice, go and beat him. Hope this helps.

I agree with this but I am severely impatient LOL..I have found that the drag bunt does work depending on the terms of the challenge but I always use OOP hitters
