John Smoltz or Piazza Reviews?

Any reviews on the 99 Smoltz? Will his price drop some? How is the 99 Piazza? I have $2M in stubs, so that's not a huge issue but trying to figure out if anyone else worth buying?

Haven't used the new Smoltz yet, but there is a forever event coming up which will have a lot of rewind packs. His price will drop like a rock.

Smoltz card would be decent if his hits per nine weren’t terrible.has a slow change up but doesn’t have sinker or cutter. His card is not very good.

Smoltz is a heart attack his balls seem to float all contact was to warning track or out

I don't have the 99 Piazza, but I have the 88 and 96 to P5. I hit well with him and he is great behind the plate.

Love the 99 Piazza but like with most cards it comes down to how you generally have done with his cards. Personally I find a lot of success with his swing even on inside fastballs and sinkers. And his defense is “good enough” but definitely not elite.

I actually haven’t used a Piazza card this year. In the past I have always found him to have a very long swing. I know the last game I felt his swing improved a bit. I guess you don’t find his swing long? I will get him eventually, just curious.

I don’t but then have been using Mike a lot for past few years. I anchor middle in and doing that I can get to outlier in or sinker down and in just fine with him which is not the case with some other legends.

I only have the Takashi Piazza who hits great. I'm sure it's like a comparison with 96 & 99 Mauer. I think 96 Mauer is better tbh.

Just because he doesn’t have a sinker or a cutter doesn’t mean a pitcher isn’t good, guess you can’t pitch without those 2 pitches

I agree with this statement his swing is long but once you use him for a few at bats and figure out his swing he is a really good hitter to use
