Field:Player Size is wrong and has ruined the game
-
This isn’t really new (hasn’t changed in years), but as I’ve noticed it more and done a bit of geometry and projectile motion physics calculations I finally realized just off the field:player size ratio is off and how much it ruins the game. People complain about hitting and being rewarded all the time and the problem appears (by my estimation) to be like 80% from the size issues and not the engine itself. A few examples:
1). First baseman standing a straight up position (no one on), so roughly 12-15 feet off the line. Line drive hit right down the line, and he makes a stretched reach (no pre-catch foot movement) and snags the ball.
2). First baseman (it’s always big frank, right) again in straight up position dives to stop a ball in the hole and ends up halfway to second base, thereby setting the new world long jump record.
3). 100mph 5 degree liner to center, CF catches it after 2 steps in (ball IRL should land at roughly 135 feet from launch)
The list goes on. Why are there virtually no stand up doubles, see field size. Why are there no routine sad flies, see field size. Why are runners with less than 75 speed constantly thrown out on balls into the corners or gaps, see field size. Cal Ripken has over 600 career doubles, but in the show he can only get one in a “normal” park if it’s of the “automatic” variety.
More than anything in the game, the field to player size ratio needs to be fixed for 23. Getting this correct (which shouldn’t be an issue for a competent dev team), will increase hit variety and make the game play more like actual baseball.

I haven't played much lately , but god did that drive me crazy... smoking a ball down the line.... Having it picked up almost instantly and gunned down with a perfect throw. All with above average speed guys and no shift on....
Working as intended

It slays me how liners down the line that end up in a corner are singles.

Game is the worst I have played gameolay wise and they refused to patch it. Imagine being this careless.

Sorry,
That would distract them from nap time. They still haven't fixed the bunt glitch, or the pitcher being Wolverine from X-Men and can be hit in any part of the body with no injury and throws you out if the ball doesn't automatically deflect right into a defender's glove.
You are correct though. The outfield is super tiny. if you look at the amount of grass from the outside edge of the infield dirt to the warning track it's barely bigger than the amount of grass in the infield.
It's why they have to blatantly have defenders let balls drop an inch in front of them to make the hit result in what would normally be. Instead of actually fixing the field size problem they went with the "work around".
23, like 22, 21, 20, 19 and so on will just be a new coat of paint and a roster update. Like any software company, any glitch that does not result in a loss of customers goes forward in every update.

Got to love the liner at the first baseman with a runner on, quick pivot and instant double play.

I posted about this months ago. The players are too big for the field. That is a fact.
It is super frustrating and insults our intelligence. -
