Showdown Issue?

Just wondering what is up with the CPU baserunners in Showdown where they simply stand/freeze in between bases and get double or triple-played?
If you try and run back they are picked off and the other runner automatically advances if you have more than one on base.
So frustrating for low level players trying to beat these nonsense Showdowns. Is it me or does it happen often?

I did the new Showdown and the 3rd match was against the Great Tampa Bay lefty. It says score 3 runs and you have running at second base and when I did it I never had the runner on.
