Strategy for central conquest

Seems to be hardest conquest map yet based on the layout. I like to play on veteran, but can deal with all star. Is there a strategy, or just a lot of turns?

My strategy has been basically the same. Played all star for about half then it got easier. It's just a lot of turns. And very strange that they seemingly randomly decided to change how conquest plays after several years. CPU hexes with a 2 will attack your 1 hexes so plan accordingly. Doesn't make it more challenging, mind you, just makes it take longer.
