Baserunners stopping midway in basepath when stealing

So I’ve noticed if I try to swipe second and swing at the incoming pitch.. the runner stops halfway!! Every time. If I take the pitch.. he goes WTF?
Tried this with all baserunning settings. This is on Xbox X. Also notice they don’t always go if the ball is in the air even if it’s a clear gapper. Have to hit the bumper.

Anyone seen this or am I doing something wrong? It’s gotten worse since patch 13

Base runners are idiots so the not running on a gapper til you hit the button is pretty common which blows.

Is there any chance you're accidentally hitting one of the triggers when you swing? I know on playstation R2 stops the runners, I've done it by accident a few times.

Sometimes runners dive back to the bag on gappers and line drive homers. It's the game not wanting you to score at times.
Even those 'set up' wild pitches and passed balls that ricochet perfectly to the catcher to nail your runners.

Its even doing it on Moments. I can't get through the Suzuki Moment to get an XBH because the runner on 1st sees the ball land in the outfield and stops.
