Tagging up

Does anybody else have problems. I know you have to be early but there seems to be a huge lag about 50% of the time. I try to be plenty early ,but alot of times its not even half-way close even with blazing speed. If its me somehow i sure would appreciate any helpful tips. Sorry if this has been talked about before

I haven't had any problems tagging-up. When the icon shows up on the screen to press L1, I do it. If I do it too early, I get thrown out for leaving the base too early (if I don't make it back in time). Other than that, it works fine. You do have to gauge the depth of the fielder and the speed if the runner, of course.

Ok thanks, not particularly helpful in this example but i do appreciate it. Maybe its me or the connection

It happens when your opponent is on Mc WiFi. Usually everything has a huge delay, from swings to pinpoint to tags

I always tag up early. I think it’s been too early once in 4 years.

If you can get a hang of when the tag icon pops up right before the outfielder catches it, then you have a slight window to advance the runner right before that icon pops up. So by the time the icon shows you will get the perfect jump. I have only went early once this entire cycle so far with this method. Players with 50-60 speed can also easily tag up on deep fly balls with this method.

I think SDS slowed down the response times for tagging up and stealing this year. Everything is bang bang. Even with elite speed vs noodle arm. Mitch Garver has an unbelievable arm for it being 70.

I’d even go so far as to say the change was made starting in TS21. Even in Franchise mode and practice mode, runners actually responding to button presses during plays is super laggy. Have to be careful that you don’t round 1st too far otherwise he’ll be a sitting duck.

I remember there was a way to manually get a good jump stealing last year. I think it was holding L2 and the bag. But this year, it seems like it doesn't work as well.
