Epic Showdown Melt Down

Still working on 1st inning, at least my 10th attempt. Super patient the whole way, still down 6-15 final boss. I am so patient Jansen is completely gassed with no confidence. I get to 14-15 with 10 outs remaining I have runners on 2nd and 3rd... I still lose 15-15.
Yes there was a triple play in there that got them out of it. Totally my fault for misreading the fly ball.
But did have perfect perfect fly from Helton die on the warning track and had way worse contact off of a gassed Jansen than I did full health Jansen.
I really, really, really hate this mode.
-
Helton doesn’t have the power unfortunately for the guaranteed tater
I feel for you. I also lost my first best chance 15-15,
due to a pickoff.
But you’re almost there and it will feel good once done. -
That ones on you personally. If you are down by 1 with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 10 outs left you bunt them both in. Plain and simple
-
It’s interesting how people hate modes just because they can be challenging.

10 failed attempts with each time nearly 2 hours long. That is excessive. I mean if it was 15 minutes fine, but 2 hours down the drain start over.

I believe I said it was my fault, the triple play got me. I said it was a meltdown, no where did I blame anyone but myself for my meltdown. I guess you are used to people blaming everyone but themselves for losing.

I agree 100%.
With 10 outs you need to go 1980's small ball and not take any base running risks AT ALL. No leads nothing.
There is no need to try to score from second on a base hit with that many outs. You play "station to station" baseball.
Besides, Kenley seems to have discovered a wicked pickoff move for showdown (Don't get me started on this). With 10 outs you should be able to manage a sac fly, a bunt and then another sac fly.
Showdown forces you to be situationally aware at all times. -
My follow up run. Fail first mission, fail 2nd mission, eliminate on first boss

Be really patient. Only look for pitches you can handle until you get two strikes.
Look for pitches down in the zone when you have a runner on 1st. CPU loves to try to get you to hit into a double play.
Only run when you are 100% sure you can make it. Do not run into outs.
I always keep a speed guy on the bench in case winning run has slow speed or bench speed is faster. I replace when they get on 2nd that way you don't waste if you hit into a double play.

I just don't understand why people act like mode is easy when I continue to fail time and time again

Dont be too hard on yourself. It took me a while to get it done also.
I did all of the moments leading up to the final and entered the final showdown losing 14-15.
I had Villar lead off with a hit and then Acuna walked. I was thinking "I got this"
Double steal with Villar and Acuna, Showndown Done.Nope. Kenley picks off Villar the moment he took a step. I then managed to alternate hits and double play ground balls for the next 8 or 9 guys. So I manged to get 6 of the first 11 guys on, but 1 pick off and 5 double plays left me nobody on.
I manged to get guys on and just played station to station. Taking pitches and not taking risks.
I won but it was a major struggle.
Just stay patient and do as many moments as you can to close the gap and to improve your lineup. -
I could do without all the gold glove plays by scrub defenders. I think the CPU outfielders have robbed me of more home runs in this mode than they did in any mode the prior 2 years combined.
-
My new favorite.
I have to get 3 hits and a HR in 3 innings at polo grounds. I force extra innings only needing a HR. Perfect perfect, but going to right center so deep it will be an inside the Parker, but it bounces up over that high wall of the BP for ground rule double. Next batter hit deep fly right center again but closer to Center, since that runner on 2nd ends game I send him back to 2nd for what should be a long single, nope bounced over the wall ground rule double, runner at 2nd scores, game over I fail.
In hindsight I should have gotten that runner picked off at 2nd base to keep extending the game. Both shots would be no doubt HRs in any other park.

It’s interesting how people hate modes just because they can be challenging.
People hate certain modes because of the way they play compared to the rest of the game. The same thing with the moments from last year. They play with sliders and mess things up. The game does not pitch the same in the showdown as it does in just a regular play vs CPU game.
-
I don’t mess with showdown. I play offline to grind, not lose my patience and cause me to hate the game. I would rather spend more time doing mto or something. I can get 300 stars for program without putting my mental health on the brink by playing showdown
-
I feel you dude. It took me 15+ attempts to beat it.
Got lucky on the last one, got the Rockies and Marquez as the final boss. Smoked him. Beat him with 7 outs in the bank still.
There is hope.
-
I hated the Jansen moment in 19 so the fact that they basically brought it back for showdowns literally scares me half to death
-
Have beat Verlander 3 times in a row. Take pitches, stack lefties and skip the last mini boss. Yordan Alvarez is a monster vs Verlander. Get heart attack perk and the perk where contact is increased when he drops below 50%.

Challenging is one thing. But after trying so many times I feel the same and I just give up. That’s why I didn’t even touch Extreme moments last year. Attempted and beat only the ones I knew were bearable at my level and patience.
