Fielding isn’t even bad this year

I actually like the fielding and animations the most this year. Locking on hasn’t been an issue for me after the fielding patch and I swear a lot of people complaining Are using bad defenders or over running the ball. Outfielders actually sprint to the ball more instead of jogging and my gold to diamond outfielders have not once phantom missed a ball in the gap like the griffey/gwynn routine ball whiff from last year. Defense really does matter at first base and a good catcher with a high blocking rating actually works for the most part. I have issues with the good okay pci results and the hanging breaking pitches on good times releases but fielding has actually been very enjoyable imo. Oh I forgot the perfect throws to home plate and on relays is a great addition.

Agreed..fielding is fun. But, once you play it a lot and start seeing all the other flaws and frustrations. An AI that doesn't even try to match the game-play with the animation...you'll quickly forget how much fun you had with fielding.

1b doesn't matter at all, they all make incredible diving stops and [censored] and it's annoying I grinded for arenado and Olson's defense and to see bronze defenders do the same

Maybe they make those crazy plays but bronze fielders definitely bobble the ball more and don’t field as cleanly as higher rated fielders but I agree that bronze 3rd and 1st baseman shouldn’t be diving all over the place making highlight plays

It’s infuriating to see how often ground balls are misplayed (by infielders and outfielders, and evening good fielding players). That’s the biggest fielding issue to me. There are way too many misplays on ground balls that are routine plays.
-
I have Baez and Schmidt routinely boot 3 hop ground balls to them. Sometimes they recover to still get the out, but it is infuriating when it becomes bang-bang and the runner ends up being safe.
-
I’ve had very few fielding problems. My biggest complaint is the same one it’s been for years...on balls hit to the outfield, fielders don’t need to do a full wind up and a hop when getting the ball in. Show some sense of urgency.

I'm still having outfielders getting hit in the head sometimes on balls they have to run to the side for.

You’re probably overrunning the animation sequence that kicks in

Don't tell me I'm overrunning the animation sequence if my player is getting to the ball at the exact time he is getting hit in the side of the face.

I mean...that's probably what's happening...
