Matchmaking changes?

I live in Illinois, near STL. I am repeatedly matched up with people from NY. Every. Single. Game.
The search bar doesn’t have a chance to move. It’s instant.
I wouldn’t care, but the lag is terrible.
Anyone else notice a similar change this year?

How do you know where your opponents location?
Everyone has NY, Long Island, Queens, etc. as their team location with Mets and Yankee logos.
It’s the Cardinals/Cubs/Sox around here that I used to see and NEVER see now.

Lag makes no difference to location tbh.
I’m from London. Play on PS4 while using 4G off my phone.
I mostly play East coast persons and it’s fine

It doesn’t lag for me. If anything they get free wins more when the 4G dies!

To be fair my ping is still better than a lot of people.
I can only compare to rocket league as it shows the ping. Hard wired I’m on 19/20. 4G is 55-60. Still fine.

Welcome to my world. I am in KC on google fiber and am always matched with people on the east coast. Yes, the lag is not good. My theory is when you match with people from the east coast you get connected to that server because the ping for you and them is closer on that server than them trying to connect to Chicago server with their horrible east coast internet. Enjoy the warping pitch speeds, not getting rewarded, giving up a ton of bs hits and the inability to read pitches.
It is why I did not like playing HOF+. I actually enjoy the HOF game better when the connection is good but that is pretty rare.

My theory is when you match with people from the east coast you get connected to that server because the ping for you and them is closer on that server than them trying to connect to Chicago server with their horrible east coast internet. I upgraded my service to 1GB a week ago. Maybe I should downgrade so I can save money and play The Show. Sigh.
