I’ve played all the UT games for a while and the difference between this game and the others….there’s a big emphasis towards winning online to unlock some of the most sought after cards.
Meaning: When you play online in The Show your whole thought isn’t to have fun, it’s about getting the win no matter what/how because it gets you a tad closer to unlocking cards. Take MUT for example, when I play online in that game, I’m not sweating it out to get a win because I really want to unlock a card, I’m playing and having fun because even if I lose, I’m not losing progress towards a card locked behind a skill wall. You get coins and trophies for winning in MUT, not that much of a big deal. HUT is similar, your rewarded with packs and coins for the most part.
They made a good change in making WS/BR cards “easier” to get but your still required to sweat it out online. Online should be fun to take your team and enjoy the game of baseball without worrying about not getting enough wins within a deadline.
There absolutely should be great rewards for achieving top levels in TS, but is it time to revamp the rewards and make online not a sweat festival?
I’m a WS player since 17 btw.
Pulling a credit card out and buying stubs to get the card you want isn’t that sweaty. Maybe after a big box from Taco Bell and the 4th Red Bull. Now just any bowel movement after that is sweaty.
I’m going to start ending all my post with
I’m an AS player since 15.
AS purgatory

Trea is an okay example and even he is a stretch but he's the exception to the rule this year as we really didn't see cards stuck at a million like we did in last year's game. Vlad Jr came out when the game was already dead, simple as that.

A guy on Reddit posted lately he’s had a buy order for Trea for over 2 months and nothing yet, the guy said you could have a card within a week or so. Wether it’s a bunch of cards like last year or a handful this year, cards locked behind online causes issues….simple as that. When that’s the system to acquire some of the popular cards, online becomes sweaty and toxic instead of fun.
-
I got Trea from the market around a week after he was introduced into the game. Trying to buy him in March, yeah, good luck.
And it's not a handful of cards. It's 2. One of which came out when the game was long dead and both came out when the market was basically dead in the sense that people had no incentive to sell. If you have 3 million stubs, earn Trea Turner, why sell him? What would you buy?
For all it's weaknesses, the show really is the only UT game where every card is attainable. And 99.9% are readily available at that.

You realize there’s players who play the previous games after the new one comes out. How are they going to get some of these cards? There’s still hundreds of buy orders for plenty of cards in 20….how are players going to get those cards? And yes, people are still playing 20. They can either wait for another year or so and hope somebody sells they’re cards or go 12-0/WS….which brings me back to what I said, is it time to rework how cards are acquired?
Collections? Stat missions offline/online? More cards in Reward Path? Packs?

Rewind packs we’re their solution, they usually work unless the games population is dead or has moved on.

At this point in the game, Rewind Packs should give you a choice of any of the cards….not random choices from random tiers. It’s not like they’re free handouts…you still gotta accumulate enough wins to get the pack.

I never finished BR until I had every card, I never played an Event further than 10 wins and my all time RS record is a sterling 8-41. I'm not good and didn't spend any money. I got Trea two days after he dropped and Vlad and Judge about three weeks ago, I collected Griffey 5 minutes after they uploaded him. I paid 1 Million for Guidry and Killebrew and have never used them. None of this is bragging because It is 100% easy to get every card in this game. You just have to play the market when you're bored at work or watching a baseball game and play the game regularly.
And for guys like Trea and Vlad, anticipate the release by looking at the schedule and put your buy order in...."buy what if I have a life and can't be on my console?" Turn Off Facebook, use the Companion app and you are a Show power broker at all times.
I'm a Sagittarius and my Aura is purple and I once beat a WS and 12-0 player because I don't think he was paying attention.

Just got home from work, logged in, my buy order for Vlad Jr went through.

You don’t need to buy stubs, you earn them fairly easy enough. Problem is, there’s a huge wait line of 1 Mill buy orders. So again, either sweat it out online or wait for god knows how long for someone to sell it to you. I haven’t seen that problem in any of the other UT games because cards aren’t locked behind online play, not to the degree of this game.
Thats only because the game is done and no ones playing. All year long this isnt an issue.

Finest Trea Turner wasn’t a problem getting? Vlad Jr? What’s your thoughts on cards locked behind online play?
Cards in the show are easily obtainable. If anything the show makes it easier obtain cards when compared to other sports games. The market is easy to work and if you got to wait a week or so for a card so be it. Later in the year it’s a longer wait but by that time most have moved on. You got choices. Yes you can grind out or you can simplify wait.

Are you implying that if you didn’t sweat it out online to unlock a card, all you had to do was wait a week and that card was sold to you? Again…Trea Turner, Vlad Jr. etc.
Your out cry for this post is predicated on a couple of cards. Just like calling in for a service, you get put on hold. Wait times may vary. Due to higher than anticipated volume, your call will be answered in the order it was received. Then 30 minutes later you get disconnected and you have to try all over again. Shame on you! Complaining about a Trea Turner card when my satellite dish hasn’t had a signal in 3 days. Mean while my water heater has been broken for 3 months. I got more Bunsen burners and propane tanks in my bathroom than a meth lab. Just to get Luke warm water. You ever walk on an extremely warped floor? I got to read my steps like I’m putting on the greens at the masters.

It isn’t SDS job to make sure guys playing 2 year old games can get every single card. They have lots of jobs to do, that isn’t one of them. Play online on don’t get all the cards. Fact remains they allow you to do it both ways and that’s worthy of a complaint.
If you don’t play online and want every card it’s very simple. You go to roster management, and move Vlad Jr onto your team and then adjust his attributes. Badaboom badabing, your now just as awesome as everybody else.
