So did they change something? I had a 2.00 ERA with Degrom over 70 innings pitched. Not a lot of innings I know but seeing as how I only play Events and BR it’s a pretty decent sample size compared to most of my pitchers. Yet over the last week and a half degrom has just been getting NUKED for me. I still barely scratch across any runs against him but now all the sudden he’s giving up all these TERRIBLE PCI homeruns lately! Like I mean it’s almost been one an inning! His ERA has shot up to 3.4 in just 10 extra games started. It’s always on contact swings too. (which I thought they had fixed) Their PCI is like half the size of the batters box and they’ll barely get the ball in it and bam it’s GONE. Then when I’m up to bat I use normal swing and I square balls up with good timing that’s a ball hair from being perfect-perfect yet nothing.

Is contact swing still that overpowered or am I just running into some bad variance here? It’s so frustrating now because I honestly don’t have a single pitcher anymore that I feel strongly confident in like I used too. I just don’t understand why it feels like the mechanics of this game are constantly changing. I enjoy it so much but it confuses the [censored] outta me!

Edit: The only answer I can think of is just that the player pool has gotten much stronger over the past month due to the fair weather players jumping to Madden or whatever. But that still doesn’t explain the [censored] ton bad HR’s that I’ve been seeing lately. I know that they’ve always been there but not this frequently!

Ha! Same for me, I can dominate with Pedro, Leiter, etc. in this event but Degrom gets lit up like a Christmas tree. And that is with me trying to not overuse the fastball which everyone is sitting on.

YEAAAAAA!! I just started using Pedro and he’s 4-0 with a 1.23 ERA/ 0.27 WHIP in this event yet Degrom is like 4-4 or worse with an ERA wayyyyy north of 10. I have noticed people sitting on the fastball but so do I and it’s still seems impossible to hit consistently. Then again I’m playing on a 70” TV so I’m probably screwed as far as response times go.

I really wish I could just switch to RS because I’m a fairly good player and could probably make a run at WS seeing as how I’m always beating guys with WS banners but I just don’t want to play a bunch of low scoring 9 inning games. Still though, I wish with all star and the easier difficulties they would cut down the number of bad HRs. I get that theoretically I can benefit from them too but I’ve barely seen 1/3 of the BS HRs that my opps have been getting. It’s so frustrating. But I’m just whining, I know. It just feels like I’m playing on a tilted playing field lately.

I'll admit Pedro served me up a few times in this event . Degrom does if I'm not on my high inside fastball defense heavy . I notice I keep alittle pressure up on my stick and have my finger on the corner of x button but not tense .
The 3 main guys I've been using have been ofcrouse degrom , potm ray , and 99 Pearson . Ray has been my best . Like I said earlier I was beat by Pedro a few times so I picked him up . Just like ray I have heard he is garbage but I like to give guys a chance before I totally scrap em .

Bad home runs have been around all year. I think one of the main things is that so many people used deGrom so people have seen him numerous times. I remember seeing him three games in a row(I don’t play a lot of ranked). Same thing with Cabrera. You gave the same pitcher time and time again you learn the breaks, speeds and get the timing down.

Not a lot of people are using the likes of Pedro so you can catch people off guard. So alot of the home runs come with luck, for the good players, it’s familiarity with a certain pitcher I think.

Do people think that no one can hit him? It’s like any pitcher that is over used. Once you see a certain pitcher every game you learn to hit them

Yea maybe I just haven’t seen him that much.. I only play events and BR so you rarely see Degrom compared to ranked seasons and when I do see him it’s only for 3 innings instead of 9.

Players are catching up to him ....everyone uses him plus in the latest event I faced him 8 outta 10 games and most players have the same pattern with him fastball - slider.

It's almost like everyone seeing deGrom 9/10 games for over a month makes him less effective. Hmmmmm.

I had a hard time against him once or twice in the event, but there were far more games where he got torched and pulled before the end of the 2nd inning.
