Many times when I’m playing Moments l’ll hit a ball for what could be a two-base hit and the runner on second doesn’t move when the ball is hit and the batter gets to second with the other runner still there. Why don’t they automatically run? Do I need to get them started?

It depends on the moment. In player-locked moments, you're only controlling the player you're batting with and the rest are AI. If it's a team moment, you control the whole team and baserunners.

Most moments are player locked ones, though.

It does suck when you need to get extra base hits, but the guy in front of you is either slow or isn't aggressive at base running.

Artificially extending gameplay. Whenever the CPU controls your runners in Moments, their BR aggressiveness is 0.

That's it. Poor ways of simulating difficulty.

It’s making the result more artificial than I think it needs to be. What happens with me is you get really frustrated when you make a hit that should be an extra base hit and it isn’t because you’ve got a runner on second that won’t move.

I've noticed that problem for years. The runners sometimes "freeze" on a line drive or fly ball that could be caught but then don't move after the ball drops in or is caught. So I've seen them fail to advance or fail to return to the base and get doubled off.
You really have to keep your eye on them.

Baserunning definitely took a step backwards this year, and it wasnt great before. I wish we could choose to have manual control if they are gonna make the AI this dumb. That way we could make our own mistakes at least.

This happens to me all the time in games against the CPU when I try a hit and run. The runner(s) will dive back as soon as there's contact. I wouldn't say it happens every time, but it does happen more than half, I think. This quirk somewhat new because I'm a pretty lousy hitter, and in order to avoid double plays, hit and run has been part of my strategy for some time now. I've had to mostly abandon that strategy now.
