Why knock the HR/9 stat on flyballs for pitchers?
-
On most flyballs in the outfield, as a pitcher you see a HR/9 deduction ( - ) even though its caught for an out. Why? I think is a mistake SDS should change. A flyball out should be a ( + ) in my opinion.

Deep fly ball perhaps? On the flip side as a batter, if I smash a deep fly out or a line out and I get a PWR+ or CON+ then that’s a good outcome, probably works the reverse for the pitcher.

Some of the things that they dock points for are really dumb. As a batter, if you get a 3-0 count and decide you want to take a strike down the middle, you know, how a real life hitter might do, you get VIS- for some reason. You shouldn't be punished for taking a strike when you're ahead in the count like that, in my opinion.

Here is another one for you. I had a guy on 1B with 2 outs and the batter had a 3-2 count. As soon as the picher lifted his leg I take off for 2B and I get a minus on stealing. In that situation you should always do what I did so why the minus?
Probably you got a bad jump. I still agree with you that you shouldn't receive a stealing minus because in MLB in that situation they're not really trying to get a great jump, they just want a little bonus getting around the bases since its a risk free steal situation. But in general though, the stealing minus comes from a bad jump

Yeah that’s definitely not something you should be penalised for as it’s not a steal situation. Hopefully the devs will make some refinements to situations like those being described in this thread.
