I am a SS in RTTS but I am showing up as a CF in DD...
-
So I have a SS in RTTS. Never was a CF. Started as a 2B but quickly changed to SS once I leveled up. So I went to add myself to my DD squad and I show up as a CF. I am listed as a secondary SS even though my player card has nothing listed for secondary position. When I play myself at SS my defense isn't as good as it should be. I have all the categories maxed out. But I bobbled routine ground balls all the time........

DD will show up as the archetypes primary position (first in the list when viewing the archetype). So, El Nino, The Spoke, Slick Sparkplug, The Dart, Cool Papa, and Slick Speedster will all show up as CF in DD. The ones that show up as SS would be The Lark, Speedy Sparkplug, and The Hawk.

When I put myself at SS though my fielding ratings decrease. Is that supposed to happen?

Yes, because that is not the primary position for your archetype.

There's different archetypes based on which archetype you level up. See here. You start with a bronze, after completing the 100 points, you get 1 or 2 silvers. Each silver archetype produces 1 or 2 gold archetypes. Each gold archetype produces a diamond archetype of the same name as the gold. The diamond then also has a program to earn diamond perks and equipment.

So I'd have to start over again with a different bronze to get a different diamond in the end that isnt the spoke? I chose sparkplug to start I believe

Or another gold or another silver

You could spend the whole year doing all 69 programs that lead to 24 different diamond archetypes.

wait one last question...so if i changed around the other perks, "The Spoke" would then change?
-
The perks would change attributes. The archetypes have some base attributes but determines primary position.
