Pitching impossible?

19 played almost identical from a pitching standpoint. Even in 18 you'd see change ups that just wouldn't stay down no matter what you did. I don't feel any difference and I've always been a player that got right to WS and never made it and could barely score 2 or 3 runs a game.
Here's one thing I've found for me right now though. Curveballs and change ups have to be set pretty much a ball length lower than you want it to go if you're throwing a strike. If you're throwing a ball with one of these, put it in the dirt or it's probably staying up too high.
I haven't had as much issue with 4 seam fastball locations, but cutters and 2 seamers hang more. I'm also nibbling a lot more on power hitters and so far it's worked alright. Don't be scared to walk someone. You're right though, the absolute worst part of pitching is the non-called strikes. If it touches the zone it should be a strike. Period.See I heard a lot of people say the same in 19 and it was an issue to an extent. But for me personally it seems a lot worse now. You used to kind of effect the outcome but releasing early or late to make sure it would either be where you want it or a ball. Now it’s either perfect or center cut.

“Little Billy”, makes me chuckle every time. Might have to change the branding on my DD team to the Little Billy’s.

I love how there is a thread about how hitting is impossible, and a thread next to it how pitching is impossible.... Haha pick one...
Both have issues

As they've said in multiple streams, if you spam a non primary pitch, prepare for it to not go where you want it to. This is especially true for pitchers that don't have good ratings on a particular pitch.
This is what happens is you spam a slider as an example if it's your secondary. That is a problem, now it is not user input. Then why do they not have something for Hitters, say VISION should lower on guys who can not hit certain pitches. If my opponent can not hit a secondary pitch I get punished for good user input I know it was like that in 19 but at least we got the black called for strikes at a higher rate. The real problem is now we do not even get called strikes on the corners. it pretty much how of the users hands if guys do not chase eventually you will get pitches in the sweet spot of the zone. Why are pitches hanging with a fresh arm?

Don't spam non secondary pitches. It's what the developers talked about in multiple streams. It's the secret of pitching. Which I agree, shouldn't be a secret..

How many are we aloud to throw in an at bat before it lands in the middle of the plate, I only can throw say 2 curve balls to a hitter. If I mixing up pitches not spaming 3 or 4 in a row secondary pitches they should not go down the middle, I use all the pitches a pitcher has and mix it up, but pitches still land down the middle. I should be able to go back and forth with pitches. It is not just secondary pitches landing down the middle it is the primary pitch to.

I'm not a developer so I don't have all the answers. What I will tell you, is knowing this information has helped my pitching tremendously and never have an ERA over 3. I'm usually sitting at 2 on ranked seasons the last 2 years they've been doing this..

I usually have a good ERA but this year not getting the black called as strike and more random pitches in the zone than 19 is mind boggling to me. I depend on my pitching. I knew you can not just spam the same pitch. It is the most frustrating year for pitching. If I get those calls on the edges, than the random pitch down the middle does not happen. I am not worried about walks. I rather walk a guy than it get crushed.

But this game is not real life baseball and in real life certain pitchers always got the edges and a little more IE Maddux. Why does the game not call strikes with pitches out of the strike zone that is real life to?

But this isn’t real life baseball. There’s a set strike zone and strikes are being called balls.
Maybe they’ll just turn on variable strike calls. Sounds like a developers band aid they’ll use.

As is often the case with subjects like the one in this thread, I haven't experienced the issue being described at all. In fact, I've been glad to see how responsive pitching is to actual input this year - depending on player skill and confidence, naturally. I use Pure Analog.

Agreed! Knowing how the game operates allows you to improve and do better. If you don't care to know what works and what doesn't you'll get angry, never improve and get to the point of posting negative comments on message boards

I did not complain much about 17,18 or 19 why because pitching was good in those games. In 20 it is terrible.. Hitting does not bother me as much as the majority. Maybe cause I suck at hitting.
By using confidence with pitching it takes away user input. Batters do not have confidence and you know why, cause everyone would complain, Most the players want to be able to hit HR's and have NFL scores instead of being able to pitch. Hitters are hot and cold in real life but we do not see that in this game it would take away from user input. I do not think a video game should have ever had pitch confidence, it is not that pitcher playing the game, It is me using that pitcher. I should have full control where the pitch goes and I should be able to throw any pitch any time with out having to worry about it be random down the middle. They could lower the speeds of the fastball a pitcher has as they get tired. I dunno know. The game pitching and hitting should be user input not controlled by random pitches in the zone. If my opponent can only hit fastballs why would I throw FB. In real baseball if a hitter can not hit a certain pitch they will see it a lot. The game will never be perfect. I do not know why they messed with pitching at all. 19 was not bad for pitching and it used the Confidence and gave strikes on the edges. In 20 the edges have been taking away and that is the biggest problem for me when it comes to pitching.

It is not about being negative but about voicing issues with the game. The game has evolved every year to how can we let players get more HR and more hits and take away pitching from user input. My biggest issue is now we do not get the edges called, I am not saying every pitch on the edge should be a strike but there is a HUGE difference from this years game to last years game and the games before that.

My point is adapt... Nothing is going to change.. either adapt, or complain or move on.. at the end of the day, is your ERA above 4? Probably not. This is a baseball sim.. as a sim, it's still failing at real life stats would align with the average ERA being above 4.... Adapt dude

Only way to adapt to throw down the middle and hope the randomness take its out of the zone and my opponent swings at it. I should not have to adapt just like those who complain about hitting should adapt and accept all the issues right. What about the fielding issues we should just adapt to whatever product SDS puts out with no feedback right cause that is your answer to solving the issue is to suck it up and deal with the game the way it is. I guess you could careless about how the game plays cause you can adapt to the issues of the game. Does that make it right. I do not just complain with out a solution buddy, I send in feedback reports cause that is what they ask for. Last I checked this is a forum to talk about the game. Since you are adapting so well and see no issues with the game why you on this forum or in this thread?
