I posted this as a reply but figured I would post it as a new topic for everyone to see.

So how you fix this is... Create a bronze catcher archetype that is primary C and create your maxed out loadout. Set the bronze with catcher primary as your "Active Loadout" and add to your squad at catcher. Then when you enter a RS game select the maxed out loadout. He will be primary catcher but have the stats of your maxed out build.

Edit: **This will only work for online game modes because you can select your archetype prior to the game.

You can’t. Please use search bar before posting an obvious question that’s been answered on here many times.

Can't what? How about you read the post. This is how I use my CAP at catcher in RS and it works just fine.

You literally can. Set the bronze catcher as primary, but have the second loadout the maxed out diamond one (the hawk for me) and when you are entering an online game, choose the maxed out loadout

I'm not arguing that you can place him at catcher, but he'll drop the ball as the game doesn't recognize catcher as his secondary even if it says so on the lineup screen. If they changed this, then that's great but prior to today if you put a non-catcher loadout at C he will drop the ball and make errors.

I have been using it like this for a while. Try it before you say it's not possible and if you catcher is dropping balls you're not doing it right.

I don’t understand why we need a work around in the first place. SDS knows catcher is the most popular position for a CAP.

I agree with you and I'm sure they will fix it eventually but until then at least we can use him at catcher without issue.

What's the best build becomes an interesting question. Fielding not so important on a C but still want arm strength.

There is still an issue if you want to use him as a catcher offline too.

I use the Ironman Arch but there are probably better ones.

You literally can. Set the bronze catcher as primary, but have the second loadout the maxed out diamond one (the hawk for me) and when you are entering an online game, choose the maxed out loadout

Yes that is why you are setting the bronze primary catcher loadout as active loadout so the game recognizes him as a catcher and he doesnt drop every ball, but then you choose the maxed out loadout when entering a game so that you get to use the diamond perks with all the good stats. Im not saying it works as I have not tried it yet but that is what OP is saying to do in order to get around him being out of position and dropping everything
