There is literally not an ounce of justification for this. Reynolds has been up since 2019, .283 average, .822 OPS and 6.2 WAR.
Senzel also has been in and out of the league since 2019. He has a negative .6 WAR, a .249 career average, and a .710 OPS. Senzel got a 3 point boost with a NEGATIVE .4 WAR to 77.
Meanwhile, Reynolds who is hitting around .300, leads the NL in doubles, and Is on pace for roughly a 6.5 WAR season moves not a smidgeon and is 76 overall.
Look, I know he Plays for the pirates, but Reynolds also has a stellar rookie year and was down last year, but clearly is showing that was the exception.
I’m not one of those people that think you don’t watch baseball at SDS, but that one is really tough to figure out.
You know Reynolds would be a high gold if he were a Yankee, Dodger or Padre.
Jokes aside, it is absurd how many diamonds those teams have. Especially the padres i think the have 3 diamond and close to 10 golds.
Also, Darvish has backed it up so far, but starting him diamond was extremely questionable based of 2018 and 2019 if they really use a three year average.
I didn’t play back in 2013-2015, but outside of mccutchen did the pirates have other diamonds?tony Watson, Mark melancon, Gerrit cole, and possibly starling marte should have been there, but I doubt they were.
Darvish is probably not the best example. He is the one Padre who is better than his rating. But overall it does seem like the Yankees, Dodgers, and Padres get bonus points.

I find it absolutely fascinating how people get hung up on these ratings. Blows my mind
Yes, considering minor league players will have high diamonds. They are just rating cards with pictures plastered on them to appear like they have anything to do with reality.
Well that’s my point. It’s a make believe fantasy mode. It’s designed to have flexibility and use tons of different cards, wether they make sense or not. Who cares about Reynolds and Senzel. You won’t use them unless you play BR.
The people that complain probably just have a ton invested I assume. Every two Fridays after attribute changes, you get two pages full of crying over ratings and comparing stats and WAR and whatnot. It’s extremely funny to me
True. I guess if you buy into the idea that they represent real life you might care. Apparently, people buy into it enough to pay 400k for Mike Trout. Change the picture on that card and he sells for about 80k. (Waits for the outrage)

Nah, has nothing to do with his name, it’s rarity and the collection gatekeeper thing. As soon as he drops to high 80’s and a new king is crowned, that card will go for the highest

Not true; low diamonds are by far more common than high ones; that’s why in the past I’ve (and everyone else) have pulled tons of Hader, Bregman, Lindor, Story, Springer but rarely DeGrom or Betts. Pulled DeGrom 4-5 times in 19 when he was lower; none last year and this one. Same for Verlander, Scherzer, Arenado.

Because we spend a good deal of time investing in these cards and putting in orders we do expect at least some consistency from SDS, which is a fair request...otherwise when a card mysteriously doesn’t move it’s hard not to question whether it is an attempt to get people to buy more stubs.

Maybe. They might separate 85-89 diamonds from 90+ diamonds, but SDS has never said that higher live series diamonds are harder to pull. It wouldn't surprise me to find out higher live series diamonds are harder to get since that would sell more packs for SDS. I do not think they have come out and said that though.

They haven’t, but there’s tiers in their choice packs and in their LS series diamond packs.

Again, maybe. But the packs do not have odds that represent that idea. The packs do not have different odds for high diamonds, but that could still be true.

If what you are saying is true, then the packs should reflect that in the odds. They should say 1:50 for low diamonds and 1:75 or whatever for high diamonds.

It's because some people see the cards as representations of the actual player. They want the card to accurately depict the player they are using. Rating, appearance, attributes and animations go together to make the player card become the representation of that player.
Others see them as compilations of attributes, and animations and couldn't care less about the representation of the player. If they made a bunch of Pepe Alazars they would be ecstatic that they made better cards to use, with no care of the appearance of realism. To these people, it wouldnt matter if SDS lost all rights to likenesses, they could still enjoy the game with a bunch of nameless, faceless monsters with terrific attributes and swing animations.
One group of people isnt better than the other, they just look at the game differently.
