It’s the patch. Watch reb or Kyle stream if you want the opinion of a top player (and lots of examples of the patch randomizing hitting away from user input).
I don't want to sound like I don't think there are issues, or that what Kyle or Reb has to say isn't important......... but, I don't really care for their opinions personally.
Some would say the top players know the game best and therefore their opinion matter more. I see where people are coming from, but I disagree with that. They don't represent the average player, what's good for them isn't always good for the entire game.
Please don't take that as me saying the game should serve only casuals or that their voices don't matter, I'm just saying, I'd rather form my own opinion, not point to others.
The patch clearly went too far on nerfing hitting, but the way the game was before was not ideal either. I had a 2.500 OPS with Rod Carew through 50 at-bats, most of my hitters were above 1.750 OPS. It was way to easy (and I'm talking event here, not veteran level ranked seasons). They should have buffed pitching, as I'm sure we'd all agree.
The reason their opinions matter more is because they are the best hitters in the game and thus see the issues with the patch better than anyone else. And what they see isn’t that hitting got harder, it’s that it got random (ie user input matters less). So instead of launch, where the person who hit the ball better won, now we get the person who got the better random results winning. Not ideal if you value user input.
And again, I get that argument. But I still don't treat their word as gold. Maybe it's just a disconnect between how you and I think. I'm not disagreeing that they might have a better positioned view of hitting because of where they are, but far to often they get caught up in the small things.
And I'm not saying that these issues are small, and I'll admit maybe it's just me being biased. I can't stand guys like them, (I get being frustrated at the game, and when it's going against you, the rage can easily leak out, but they seem to throw a fit anytime something doesn't go there way.)
Though I haven't watched Kyle in a while, maybe he's changed, but I don't think I've ever entered a Rebel stream and not heard complaining, which gets pretty old. It desensitizes me to any of his complaints because he never stops.
So after typing that all out, yeah it's probably just my bias, but I don't value what they say all that much.

I'll take Rebel and Kyle's opinion on hitting over 99.9 % of people that play this game

If you think about it, in real baseball a333 ba is pretty hot. And a contact point on the bat being a half an inch off van mean the difference between a home run and a ball hit straight up. Spin from pitcher, location, size of bat, type of swing, spin off bat, wind direction, pitch speed, geography of stadium, humidity, day/night, player fatigue level, stress, crowd noise. There are a lot of factors that have nothing to do with the hitter.

I understand some randomizing but it does seem that much of the “luck” is bent away from the player. Especially in showdown

What is their username? I would like to YouTube search it. Thank you

I heard Kyle liked the patch up until he took his first loss lol

Showdown seems to be all about patience. Take your time, work the count till 2 strikes unless its what youre looking for, lower the confidence.
Its a grind modeEdit: get the 2 strike contact perks

Whenever those guys fail, they always have an excuse (with the exception of Kevin). They are the biggest whiners in any video game that I have ever seen. The game always cheats them if they lose, and they are the greatest when they win (which is most of the time). They are the last people I would listen to for game issues.

I can think of others whos opinions I value much less, just my take tho.
