At anytime when you play the game do you go into the options menu and choose "next appearance" (say, to simulate out of baserunning opportunities)?? If so, this is known to break archetype progression.

I get on base then go to menu and next appearance. I've done this prior with no issues up until May 10th, I didn't play on the 11th, game updated and then I noticed it stuck. I did the work around with my character on diamond dynasty, then it worked. Worked for about 5 games then it froze and crashed. Progressing didn't work afterwards even after trying the diamond dynasty work around.

This is BS. The whole mode has been broken from day one. Then they do patches, say stuff is working when it is clearly not. We should not have to do constant work arounds to progress the programs. But even doing work arounds doesn't work anymore. FIX THE [censored] GAME

Good to know their 3rd rate programmers butchered something else.

I'm just saying that in my testing, using "next appearance" causes you to miss out on Archetype progression. Because the game apparently treats that like you're sim'ng instead of playing.
I used that a LOT trying to level up my baserunning Archetype. Get on first. Steal second. Maybe steal third (if not 2 outs). And then pick "next appearance" rather than wait for CPU at-bats (because that's not fun at all - watching your CPU teammate foul off 5 pitches before finally striking out). And then, after Game Update 3, I started noticing I wasn't getting progress. Took a while to figure out that the games I was not getting progress on were the games where I had used the "next appearance" button.
So now what I do is this (assuming I care about base running): when I start my AB, I set the RTTS options to "lead runner" and "all pitches". If I get on 1st or 2nd with no one in front of me - gives me an opportunity to steal. Once I'm done with that, go back into RTTS and set the option to "action pitches". You could set to "none" as well. But either way, at your next AB change it back to "lead runner" or after your hit your will miss your chance to steal bases.
Hope this helps.

Well, you called it, you can't sim baserunning. Thanks for that. All though, I'm not super pumped about baserunning with my slow character.

Is it just me or are all these work arounds (DD progression fix, and constantly switching between lead runner and all/action pitches) taking the fun out of RTTS this year. All the crashes and corrupted save files have me with a Ballplayer that's 97, and never made it out of the first year. And he still shows up as a 65 in DD no matter how buffed he is in RTTS.

Came here to ask the same thing.
It seems my “Repeatable” missions aren’t tracking.
So I’m pretty much capped at the “Completed” missions. Boo. -
Instead of next appearance, after you get in base or steal a base it should have something come up where you choose to sim to next appearance, or watch the game. If you do sim to next appearance, green triangle on ps4, it fast forwards to your next appearance and you still get progression. At least I have been
