I haven’t played MLB since 18 and back then there was an issue with urgency with players on defense. Urgency with getting the ball in from the outfield, urgency with tagging base runners that are sliding, and sometimes urgency with the cut off man getting the ball to a base.

I know there is the yellow bar in the throw meter but even when I get it right my guys still show little urgency getting the ball in.

Is there a stat that I don’t know about to explain why my players do this?

    Thank you in advance.

Was just thinking about this earlier. The urgency definitely needs improved. Diamond defense outfielders are doing spin cro hops and throwing lollypops in. I am a hugeee the show advocate but this is the main issue in my eyes that needs improved.

Big key with urgency in the outfield is getting to the spot early and if you can slightly behind the marker so you can catch it on the run in. Then throw wise it's usually way better to hit the cut off guy and then use them for the throw to the base which you can input prior to them catching it. If you're always trying to throw directly to a base the Outfielder is going to have to take a bigger hop and windup.

Infield wise you need to make sure you take a proper angle to the ball. If you can come around it and field it while moving towards the base you're throwing to it speeds up the urgency more. If you just get to where it's going and don't move through it they will take their time more. It's really all about route and angles for both infield and outfield.

I absolutely agree. Urgency is a massive need. I’m not a programmer, so I don’t know if they can’t program both or not. But I don’t mind the fancier animations when time allows, but there are too many plays where guys are just standing their holding the ball.

Preloading the throw is an important thing (ie pressing the destination fielder’s button before you field the ball) and hitting the green bar, to get the fastest animations in a close play.

I always preload and I, almost, always hit the green. They still sit there and hold the ball too long.

Is it a routine out (that gets the batter out)? If so that’s a design choice (mentioned in streams a few years ago). If not then yeah it’s a problem.

I preload my throws all the time and still find they take their time. At random times they do move and throw the ball with urgency but it’s so random.

Dude. I don’t think there is a single thing I’ve yelled out loud more in my living room than “JUST THROW THE F*CKING BALL”.

You don’t need to take those extra two steps.
You don’t need to create phantom momentum into weird directions.
    Just throw. The. D@mn. Ball.

I agree 100% especially having played baseball myself this is so frustrating. The exaggerated throws, the extra steps, the big hop to throw especially when it’s going to the cut off man. Sometimes the cut off man is in a position that’s just weird. But this was my biggest issue back in 18 and it’s sad that it’s still happening 3 years later.
