Sorry if this has been asked before*

I want to have my DD Ballplayer as a catcher. Therefore, I’ve made my RTTS player a catcher only (not a 2-way). I completed the bronze catcher primary archetype and chose a silver, gold and I now have a diamond archetype. However, it is Iron Man which suggest catcher is a secondary position. My player drops about 60% of all of the pitches due to secondary position impacts.

Is there a different path I need to take to get diamond catcher primary archetype? Does it exist? If so, how do I get it? Am I screwed now because I picked Iron Man?

    Very confusing - thanks!

Nope. SDS realized that no one wanted to play a catcher as a RTTS or DD created player and so they left out the option.

Yes. There is no diamond archetype with catcher as primary AND catchers don’t work using an archetype that has it as secondary. So, no ball player catchers.

Don’t listen to this guy. The patch notes from last night showed that this would be fixed. The catcher should have a catcher secondary position when servers are back up. It won’t be a primary, but he won’t be dropping the ball constantly.

Gotcha. Seems a bit odd but I guess I don’t mind them removing Catcher CAPs a bit. I’ll have to wait and see what happens today, thanks.

Literally having the same issue. I've created a CAP as Catcher for the last 3 yrs. Whoever blew up the prior CAP programs / builds and thought up this new progression / archetypes should be fired immediately. So very dumb.

Where am I wrong? Which archetype has Catcher as primary. I (and most others) don’t want to take the hit to fielding and lose animations by playing at a secondary position. This was a huge fail by SDS and is absolutely not fixed by a patch unless they added an archetype with catcher primary.

OP stated his catcher is dropping 60% of the pitches due to the secondary position penalty, which isn’t true. Their is a bug from the previous version that made created players play as out of position despite them being selectable as a catcher secondary. That’s why when you press triangle over your created player, it would only show shortstop for available positions. The update from this morning will fix this according to the patch notes. The created player won’t be a primary catcher more than likely, but it will fix the dropped pitch thing. This is a bug, it wasn’t an intentional move my SDS like you said in your post.

The OP’s question was whether there was an archetype for Catcher. That answer is still no. There is no archetype with primary catcher. And good luck playing with catcher as secondary even if they fix the dropped balls issue. The lack of animations (from secondary penalty) will still make it unviable.

I have no interested in using my created player to be honest. Posada is great at catcher, and TA Perez is a great backup. Looks like SDS dropped the ball anyway. I just checked DD and it doesn’t appear that anything is fixed with the created players.
