Ranked seasons starts on veteran level for the first few hundred and then is all star level until 700. So yes, there will be some fire works. But this is the only time of year you will get to play all those veteran games so enjoy it.
I was all star at like 330....im 519 now and in "Pennant Race" division

He’s talking about difficulty level. You can tell by pci size. You get to 700 and it’s barely bigger than the baseball.

Every year people complain when they’re in all star. SDS patches hitting and breaks the game and hitting ends up terrible.
Hitting is probably better than it’s ever been right now.
So to the crowd that always ruins this game, just stop please.
It’s all star. It’s meant to be fun. Not challenging like Hall of Fame and legend.
-
I'm confused, were they Rockets, Torpedoes or Lasers? Was this a game of COD?
-
I'm getting a lot of base hits, lots of gappers, i actually think the hitting is pretty good this year.

. I’m glad I swerved this years edition, the servers are awful, from the streams I’ve seen there are still terrible problems with desync in H2H, there are people losing stubs and progression left, right and center and it seems although pinpoint pitching offers increased accuracy with good input, it’s still rendered pretty much irrelevant when any pitch in any location can be hit hard, even when that appears to be totally unrealistic in terms of physics. I was hoping SDS would actually prove me wrong, they have a history of coming back strong after a weak year, as we saw when transitioning from ‘18 to ‘19. I’d certainly say ‘20 was a down year in terms of quality, with everything from gameplay to content going to ****, but maybe the whole cross platform, new systems to develop for and so on was just too much for them to handle. I did suggest this would be the case back in February and sure enough, it’s just ‘20 reskinned with added server errors. Meantime, next gen get what appears to be a half finished or beta version of a stadium creator and some annoying birds that nobody ever asked for. Meh.Yeah not much is different online. Still a ton of RNG. There’s been some more hit variety so I like that but still lots of bombs

Game is [censored] online. No pitching same as last year. -
Thats why ranked seasons suck until you get to 700.

This is the problem. I was actually out shopping earlier and looked at the XBox Series S, it’s only £250 new and obviously The Show is free with game pass. It was such a relatively small outlay, I was tempted to pick one up on the spur of the moment, but the only game I’d ever play would be MLB The Show and I absolutely hated two of the last three years games. ‘19 was probably overrated as well, due to being sandwiched between the the two worst versions of the game ever made.
I’d love to just play the game casually for what it is and not get involved with all the frustration and annoyance, but it tends to be the case with modes like DD that you’re either all in on the grind and have to devote a lot of time to the mode, or you will never succeed or have a chance at earning the cards you want. Once I get involved and start actually trying to succeed, I become emotionally invested in the game and the awful gameplay begins to cause frustration and annoyance. That was the thought process that caused me to walk away and leave the console on the shelf unpurchased. I want to play a baseball video game, I’m missing playing baseball video games, I just don’t really want to play THIS baseball game, because it’s an exercise in frustration at the best of times. The general tone of posts I’ve seen hasn’t been positive and there are signs that the overall gameplay hasn’t changed in the slightest from previous years. The “ton of RNG” and “pitching still irrelevant” type comments scare me the most.

The grinding is a blast. I know to limit myself to just a few RD games a week so I don’t get frustrated and so my record stays

I’m usually a winning player, in that my overall record is .500 or above. I don’t worry about that too much, but I was unable to make WS even once last year, which was insane, given I’d made 900 every single month since ‘17 just about. I felt like I could not pitch to contact and I’ve never been the kind of guy to win an out an out slugfest. I don’t play BR, avoid Shippet like the plague and have always relied on solid pitching and tactical defense to win games for me as opposed to “If you hit 10 home runs, I’ll hit 11!”. The game just felt like a hitting simulator more than anything.
As for the grind, I’ve always done it, always got every card I wanted, even last year when the waiting lines for cards like Chipper were a mile long and everything cost 1000000 stubs, if I went the PS route instead of XBox I could just load up ‘20 and sell them to help people out

I just feel like there’s no point grinding for cards when you don’t enjoy using them. Last year, I also felt like the content sucked. There were too many juiced cards, 99 SS Willie Mays may as well have been 99 Topps Now whoever, who was equal to 99 Finest anybody, who was pretty much the same as 99 FS someone or another. If you grind hard for a card, you want it to feel special on the field, not just like another generic player with different card art and name tag. -
