Ranked Seasons?

Hi, completely new to the show, baseball in general. I'm enjoying the Show 21 on gamepass, just wondering does ranked seasons have skill based matchmaking guys?
I'm not very good at the game yet, my team is trash. I need to play seasons to level up Gambi. Is ranked seasons online worth playing for a new player, or will I be matched against good experienced players?

You start at 0 and work your way up. This early in the year you may play someone new or you may play a WS player from last year just starting out. For your first few seasons dont even worry about record, just watch how people pitch you and try and improve.
0-199 is on veteran
200-699 is on allstar
700-899 is on Hall of Fame
900+ is legend -
You will be matched with players with similar points count you have. Last year it was +-70 points if I'm not mistaken at the start of the searching for game.
The longer it takes, the bigger difference between you and your opponent could be. You can also hold d-pad left and it will stop making the gap bigger.But short answer is yes, matchmaking is skill based

Much appreciated guys, it's basically using a similar ranking system to Apex Legends. Do the devs visit this forum? I feel their ranking system should be improved upon in the future. A less skilled player is more likely to be matched against a high skilled player with its current format, that's discouraging for new players.
They should've placement games before putting a player into a division. You get five placement games, match opponents on their amount of wins. For example, a player who has won his first three placement games would be matched against another player who has won their three placement games.
They could then have divisions, or a league type system. Let's say the top division is called the diamond division where all the best online players in the world reside. This type of highly skilled player is likely to win all five placement games, will be put into one of the top divisions. Lower skilled players who loss all their placement games would be put into the bronze division.
I believe this type of ranking system would greatly benefit all players. They could've rewards for each division. The higher divisions would obviously have better rewards.

Rating does not absolutely equal skill. I got close to 700 last year on a series of dashboards. If I hit one home run in the first three innings, that was it, I was getting a win. I once threw one high fastball, swung on and missed by my opponent, and they dashboarded. I didn't earn those wins through skill, they were all handed to me because my opponents just didn't want to play, and it was bad luck in a sense that they came in bunches because my rating got too high too quickly and that's not pretty when you face someone more established who doesn't want to dashboard against you. At a basic level, you might face better opposition at higher ratings and worse opposition at lower ratings, but when I was rated nearly 700 and then started losing matches, I was quickly down at 400 again and scraping out wins and losses roughly equally. This means there were loads of people rated in the 400s who could have beaten me when I was rated 680-ish. I don't believe there's a better way to do this. "Skill" is too difficult to quantify so it has to be wins, no matter how they materialize.

Don't worry, the best players now have more than 700 rating and you will not meet them in your first games. Probably you will be matched with someone 0-200 on veteran difficulty, which is ideal start.
Or you can try event, in there you could meet anyone, total rookie or pro player, but these games will not screw your online record and it's ideal for online practice
