At this point I'd be happy with just getting one for regular price. 🙄

The first price cut for PS5 will be when a pro or slim model comes out, similar to the ps3 and PS4. Probably holiday season 2022.

Curious if anyone knows when the new console releases typically drop in price? I might be in the market for a PS5, particularly because my PS4 has been on the fritz lately. (Coincidentally, it started right around the time of the new release). I’ve had to go back to factory settings twice because it won’t recognize my system storage.

Anyway, I’ll probably get a PS5 eventually to replace this but don’t want to spend $500 if I can avoid it. And of course, there’s the issue of supply right now. But how long after initial release do they start dropping the price? Does anyone remember from past releases how long it takes for the next gen to get cheaper? Is February or so unrealistic? Or will I basically have to be OK with spending $500 by the time my PS4 dies.

Are you in the US? Do you have a Gamestop near you?

They were giving around a $200-225 trade in credit towards a PS5 depending on what type of PS4 you have right now.

Doubt he'll get anything for a broken ps4

A discount? People can’t even get a hold of a PS5 right now and you’re asking about a discount?

He said on the fritz. Depending on how bad it is; he can still get at least a partial credit.

Your best shot at any discount is a sale like Target just had. They had 10 percent off gift cards.

I think Discover also has 5% cash back at retailers like Walmart online, Amazon, and Best Buy online this quarter which would be about $25 back. Thats assuming anyone could actually order one from them.

I’ve personally got 3 PS5s and assisted friends on getting 3 others. The three I’ve got alone I kept one, sold one, and gave one to a close friend for cost. I feel it’s getting much easier to find them thanks to Walmart and Target doing in store only.

All 6 have came from Walmart. Be polite and simply ask when is the best time to come to the store for your shipments of PS5s? Every store is different to when their trucks arrive and it takes about 4 hours to get off the truck and into the system. Knowing this info is key. PS5s have been showing every other or every third day in my town. Sometimes they sell that night other times they release at 7am the next morning and you may have to wait in line an hour to get one.

It took me about two weeks of trial and error and a lot of time searching online for info and I just want to share it with some of you to help out like I have others.

Another thing that I have experienced and a friend did to is employees will flat out lie, don’t know why some do if their holding for a buddy or whatever but a lot of reports of lying. Now what I do is I have a picture of the UPC of the PS5 box and go up to the person working the self checkout at the front of the store. I just ask could you please scan this to see if you have any stock? They do and there is your answer. I got one because she scanned three in stock I went to electronics and was told they have none. I mentioned the front scanned three in stock. He went back to “check” and magically came out with one saying oh we must of just got them.

It’s all about persistence guys, good luck.

I remember buying PS4 Christmas 2014 and it came out November the previous year. I don't remember the price, but I do know I got a 2 game bundle and it was discounted on Black Friday. I think you'll see little deals or bundles next Christmas, probably nothing profound though.
