Wacky lineup ideas
-
Running the same lineup each game can get a bit dull for me, so been playing around with a few roster ideas given how many cards I've now collected (99% of which I never use), but be great if there are any others out there I can try.
So far, I've played with;
- All lefties (finding RH throw infielders on that one was fun)
- All righties
- Alphabet team - starting lineup has a surname 'A...' leading off, 'B...' batting two, 'C...' at 3 and so on.
- No MLB team duplicates (only one person on the whole roster per franchise)
- Jersey numbers - had number 1 (Kyle Lewis) lead off, then 2 (Hanley) and so on. Had to have Urias, Marco Gonzales (7) or Snell (4) pitch as I couldn't find many/any other pitchers between 1-9.
Also did a jersey number AND no duplicate team roster which took ages to build, but a lot of fun.
So I've done a few as you can see. Any other ideas people have got?
Thanks

1 player per round drafted...
Thanks

Nationality, vary by height per inch, player per decade... lots of options available.

I got bored of the themes myself, I did all this series or that series, did all players from the 1990s, all switch hitters, all silvers, even commons, but here’s one I haven’t done yet.
The pack luck team. Open 25 standard packs (Or headliners, if your stub balance allows it) and “draft” one card from each pack. Make sure you take enough pitchers!

The theme teams I typically run are:
All speedsters: Obviously, it's the fastest players I can find per position. This team sucks to play with because when I get anyone on base, it's constant pickoffs and pitchouts, which just gets old.
All Brewers (best version of a card who has played for them): Usually ends up being a pretty weak team.
Players of a certain age
Dead Legends: Sadly, this team has gotten a little better this year.
Legends that played in my lifetime: This is a pretty good mix of 80s and 90s players.
All Switch Hitters: I don't usually fair well with these lineups for whatever reason.
All reverse splits
All one nationality/race: These teams can be pretty great no matter what you're using. Unless you go with South Africa, because Gift Ngoepe isn't a good baseball team.

Do a card art team. Players who are pointing at the sky in disbelief, as if aliens are about to land at the stadium! Players who are sliding, but their facial expressions suggest they’ve just noticed they’re heading for a steaming pile of dog [censored] (Finest Brandon Belt is good for 1B on this team)!

One of favorites is an all Sig Series team

Everybody in the starting lineup of my Old Farts team debuted in the 40s or earlier. Some of the bench dudes debuted in the 50s, and then the bullpen is just the best I could do with the old farts that we have at our disposal.
1 - Cobb (CF)
2 - Wagner (SS)
3 - Teddy BJ (LF)
4 - Foxx (C)
5 - Snider (RF)
6 - Jackie (3B)
7 - Hornsby (2B)
8 - Musial (1B)
9.- Walter, Hal, Cy Young, Christy Mathewson, Lefty Grove (92 ... hopefully the 99 comes in RIB2)Bench: Kiner, Doby, Mantle, Mathews, Minnie
Bullpen: (this is admittedly pretty lame) Henke, Wagner, Smith, Eck, Fingers, Goose, Gagne -
