The WS and BR rewards likely won’t drop if those are what you are after.

If no packs go for sale in the pack shop, I don’t see it dropping prices. If anything, prices may increase as people “run it back” a hundred times and just quicksell the cards, increasing the amount of stubs in circulation

You’re assuming people would want to do such a thing. If that is truly the case, those same people would have been running infinite 8th inning showdowns and getting the BIAH packs and headliners. It’s a time sink for 5k stubs that you could make just flipping a couple of cards in minutes.

It’s a lot easier to beat a conquest map with 6 teams for most people than a showdown.

Flipping cards, even though you make stubs, has an overall effect of removing stubs from the market since every transaction takes 10%. The only thing that really makes card prices go up overall is when stubs are added to circulation, causing inflation. This happens when people buy stubs, stubs are an in game reward, or people are quick selling cards that they got as a game reward (same as a stub reward).

And yes, I think the community will spam the showdown and conquest and most of the cards will be at quicksell value within a day.

Sale and Ted are roughly where they’re staying at for now, I’d say 325-350k is about right and with Sale and Rickey presumably leaving the choice pack after this season, I’d say Sale may even rise a touch further once he’s no longer available. Ted Williams isn’t worth the 350k in my personal opinion, as a bad defensive LH OF in a game full of LH power bats, he makes little appeal to me. His price is firmly pinned in that region by not only his popularity, but the popularity of Piazza, Rickey and Sale, however, and I doubt we see him available much below 300k any time soon, if ever.

Maddux is obviously a previous inning boss and after being slated as trash due to his lack of velocity, he was really unpopular for a period of time, which was when I picked him up for my all 90s squad for around 65k. He’s gradually risen like most cards since then and more than a few people have probably locked him into the prestige program, reducing availability. I do use him, but I don’t feel he’s worth his current price tag which was approaching 100k last I looked. I’d probably be hoping to pay 70-75k during a market slump, which we are not currently experiencing.

Scherzer is a different beast entirely. Yes he’s good, but like so many other previous headliners (Dibble being another “prime” - haha! - example), wildly overpriced. The main reason for this is that not only can he still be pulled in standard packs, SDS invariably hand out bundles of headliners every time there’s a conquest map, event or similar and usually end up putting them in the pack store too. Ultimately, this will result in vast numbers of all previous headliners flooding the market and crashing their value, whenever SDS sees fit to do so. I’d definitely wait on Scherzer.

Mathewson will always be a somewhat niche card and will probably end up being rare. (Read: expensive) Not many will have endured the event and he’s not a popular player or an effective card to use in game.
I think most players will be at or around 300 stars in this inning by now, if you want Kershaw then you should probably bite the bullet and just pay the 115-125k it will cost to obtain him. With Cobb being extremely popular and well received due to his speed and hitting, plus Pudge being popular at a shallow position, the price of the other two bosses is going to hold his value steady, as well as Kershaw being a popular pick in his own right.

He was the headliner for headliner pack 50. The discussion looked like it was related to BR and WS reward cards. I was just noting Scherzer wasn’t one of those he was a headliner reward.

Maddux will probably drop a little if there is a big content release like finest or september POTM. I got J-Roll and Stan for about 40-50k each when that dropped. Mathewson wont cause he is an event Ted and Sale wont cause they are world series and Sale will actually increase as he has been out longer and may not be available anymore.

Rare cards will gradually go up in price after Friday. BR rewards, WS rewards, cards not available in packs,

More stubs in circulation + same number of cards available = price rise

Run it back means an infinite source of stubs is available. 6 games in conquest can probably be done in about an hour. Heaps of good players will be able to complete showdown way quicker than that, with minimum 5k stubs reward

Wether a card is overpriced or not doesnt dictate that the price will not rise any more, its about supply and demand

Casey Mize was 400k and totally overpriced, but as more and more people were rewarded stubs, demand grew and so did his price.

I’m not disputing the economics part, nor the fact that these cards, if sellable, will be saturated down to QS value. I’m just saying, I, personally, wouldn’t play through a showdown or a mini conquest map for 5000 stubs. As a matter of fact, if I wanted to make a few thousand stubs by repeatedly playing showdown, the option is already there, as I pointed out.

Anyway, I feel as though SDS will make this based on completing a set of missions or goals to earn the pack, much like we have a set of missions to earn the program stars for each inning. A couple of “capture X stronghold by turn 1” and “Steal 25m fans” type missions will lengthen the process of completing the map considerably, even with only 6 strongholds to capture.
