Impossible Flyout in Foul Territory—Glitch?!
-
Trying to beat the Mariners in a 3-inning conquest game. One out, nobody on. Yastrzemski at the plate, and he fouls a ball into the stands. Or so I thought.
The ball lazily flies to the stands and starts to fall. It goes straight down, but then it suddenly darts to my left and makes a beeline for the right fielder's glove and he catches it. I am "out."
I normally don't curse, but I just don't get this at all. Just what the hell? Why the hell does the ball have a mind of its own and not obey the laws of physics? It should've landed in the stands. If physics were obeyed here, that's what would've happened. Is this a glitch, or did the game decide to swindle me?
This is the first time I've noticed this in this year's game. Has this bullcrap happened to anyone else?

Maybe the ball hit a cardboard cutout fan? Who knows these days!

I've seen Manny machado pimp a foul ball and it turned out to be a no doubt homer. But replay shows ball landing in the stands BEHIND the dugout. Made no sense.

Sounds like this HR I hit that wasnt...

I had the same thing happen in Minnesota one game. Foul ball, flying into the stands at a 30 degree downward angle through open air (this was before the nets), suddenly drops straight down and even goes the opposite direction into a fielder’s glove. Some kind of stadium glitch, I figured.

This game simply just does weird things...I can't even get mad anymore, but that was just....WOW! I just expect it....then just swear and throw things when it happens.

Yep. That's EXACTLY what happened to me, except the ball was supposed to be foul.
I've seen this glitch happen on Kotaku highlight reel... but never imagined it'd happen to me... this kind of thing should be patched out. I feel like Armando Galarraga, but it was the game that screwed me over rather than the ump.
