They should add tattoos to your road to the show player and clear contracts and custom hair styles.

I like this idea. I would also say add customization to cleats and other gear. NFL and MLB players in real life get their cleats customized. I would like to see our names on cleats, and other gear, or maybe our numbers too!

I think so too. All these suggestions/ideas would make rtts more fun to play.

You probably will never see tattoos in the game because of copyright laws. Every tattoo is considered to be art and the designer owns the rights to it so to get them in the game SDS would have to go to virtually every tattoo shop in the country and pay them for the right to use their design.

Not entirely true...because once the tattoo is on the person, the designer doesnt necessarily "own" it...being that MLB would have the name rights to the players, that would allow them to include the tattoos of players in the game. Just like WWE or NBA games with the tattoos on the people...and they can simply hire 1 artist to draw up different tattoo designs to include in game for our RTTS player..

This is absolutely inaccurate. If a tattoo artist creates an original tattoo, he owns the right to that specific design. It cannot be replicated in a game or anywhere else. He owns the copyright -- literally meaning he owns the right to make copies. SDS cannot make a copy of that design.

The second part of your post is true, though. SDS could just create tattoo designs that we could add to our players. But they cannot just say "Hey, Josh Donaldosn has a cool tattoo -- let's reproduce it and put it in the game."

Names and likenesses are included because the MLBPA represents the players who are members of the union (all MLB players?) and SDS has an agreement with the union. This is why we have never seen MiLB players in the game (not part of the MLBPA). Something may have changed in this regard heading into 20.

Tattoos are different, they are works of art by somebody else. In Australia it's basically as soon as pen hits paper the person holding the pen (or their employer if they are a professional tattoo artist) owns the copyright of the resulting design (unless it's something generic). Ownership of copyright can be transferred to another entity if the creator chooses. Not sure how it works in other countries but it's going to be something similar. I'm agreeing with others here - it's for this reason that we will never see players' unique tattoos in the game.

UNLESS: SDS builds a feature into the game that allows users to create/reproduce designs and add them to players and then use the existing roster vault as a way to replace teams. This is a way around it. Big Ant has used this strategy for several years to avoid licensing names and likenesses of cricket players across the world. They even open up the player creator for a few months prior to release of the cricket games so that on release date the generic players, teams and leagues can be replaced with real life squads, teams and leagues in a few button presses.

My source info (Australian Copyright Council) is actually quite an interesting and reader-friendly read, so here's the link if you're interested.

There is other games that allows you to use tattoos on people. You dont have to get any copyright clearance to use generic tattoos.

    Generic customization

    • unbutton at least 2 Jersey Buttons
    • More chain options. Like 2 chains, or a number pendant for your players number.
      Animations
    • If they wear elbow/shin guards. They give them to the coach after a hit. Or on a double they call time like in actual games.
