Long Reliever Spot in the Pen - SP
-
Seeing as we have very few options for relievers with stamina and good pitch mix to fill the long reliever spot, would anyone else like to see the option to put a starter in that role?
I think guys like 99 Ryan and Jaun Marichel would beneift from something like this as I don't really feel like they have the pitch mix to go a full 7 or 8 innings without getting rocked. It would also give another recovery spot which would come in handy.
It's getting more common to see starters go less innings and a more platoon like approach to pitching is gaining popularity, so why not?

I might be the minority here, but absolutely NO! There are a few long relief options, long relievers are not shutdown starters. It’s typically a failed starter. We have better options than that in someone like Morton’s postseason card and some other relievers with decent, but not great stamina. My point is use some of those guys or go to a starter and be penalized later on with your starter stamina.

The Vida Blue RP card is surprisingly good and has plenty of stamina.

Interesting.. I have him anyway, I'll throw him in there tomorrow and give him a go.
I guess what it comes down to is that I don't need all those reliever and closer spots. I'd give up 2 closer spots for 1 more starting slot. But that's me personally.

They could release post season starter reliever cards like Morton, I think Stras had one last year, Price as well..

can only echo this. 93 rated, 60 stamina. Not particularly high velocity but he's a lefty so that is always useful for throwing guys off, especially if they've loaded their lineup with LH bats. plus it's a good way to get some Tiger innings for any grinds/dailies you're doing without having to use Newhouser all the time - slowest pitching motion around (except maybe Lefty Grove) and his control online is shocking!

I had a game where I had only one starter at 90 percent I used him as an opener and he went 3.1 with 5 strikeouts no runs... brought in my starter and he finished it out saving my pen
