Ranking TA2 cards
-
A while back I made a ranking of all the stage 1 TA cards link so I thought I might as well go for stage 2 now that I have them all. I have less experience with a few of these but have tried pretty much all of these at least once somewhere. This is my opinion so don’t take it too seriously. Let me know your thoughts. Not as much thought has been put into this one as in General I have used/faced these cards much less than TA 1, or any other cards really for that matter
- Nick Lodolo- The Obvious choice, the best pitcher of the bunch, and one of the only ones I see anymore
- Nolan Gorman- Really nice swing. Seems to hit everything hard
- Vidal Brujan- Sneaky Pop, Great speed, good swing, good fielding. Don’t have anything bad to say about this card
- Nolan Jones- Gorman with a worse swing IMO. Still has good pop just not as good as Gorman
- Kyle Wright- I like him second best among FS pitchers. He is outclassed by many starters but is still solid enough
- Jazz Chisholm- Very fun card, no real holes in his game
- Clarke Schmidt-Honestly pretty solid. Good pitch mix and speed differentials
- Alex Kirilloff- Personal choice here. I just hit very well with this card for whatever reason
- Brandon Marsh- Good swing, fielding, and speed, just doesn’t really blow you away when using him
- Brusdar Graterol- The most hyped up TA2 card, but mixed results. Honestly would be better if the fastball had outlier and the sinker didn’t
- Taylor Trammell- Great speed and fielding and a solid bat
- KeBryan Hayes- Fielding alone puts him up this high. We don’t have many diamond fielders at 3rd
- Josh Jung- KeBryan Hayes but with worse fielding
- Evan White- Has decent pop in the bat, but you don’t see first baseman with diamond fielding and 80 speed. Just here for teams that want to be different
- Brady Singer- Has a sinker, but otherwise meh
- Jorge Mateo- Great Value Rickey Henderson
- Alek Thomas- Has a nice swing IMO, not the greatest pop but can get the Job done vs. RHP
- Andres Gimenez- Has Good speed, not a bad pinch runner/defensive replacement
- Luis Garcia- Have used this card the least, in fact only for his moment, but doesn’t look half bad
- Dane Dunning-Same as Singer, but worse
- Bobby Dalbec- Has good power but has low contact compared to all the rest of these
- Heliot Ramos- There are no weaknesses on paper, but there aren’t any strengths either
- Nico Hoerner- A contact hitter that isn’t fast just doesn’t translate that well in this game IMO
- Adonis Medina-Not necessarily the worst but the FS bats are in general better than the pitchers in TA2
- Jose Urquidy- When his best pitch is a slow changeup, its pretty easy to pick up on
- Ryan Rolinson- Fairly easy release to pick up and is practically the only FS pitcher without a sinker
- Zach Brown- by far the easiest to hit out of any of the TA 2 pitchers. He’s both the easiest stage 2 and stage 3 showdown boss to beat. I haven’t used him, but I once won a showdown down by 8 against him with 19 outs left
- Ryan Mountcastle- One of the ones I have used the least, but didn’t even hear this guy talked about when they came out. There are just better options among TA3 first baseman
- Daz Cameron-At least they made up for this with Kaline in TA3 right?
- Kevin Smith- Sorry Jays fans, easy choice here
-
Lodolo is still in my rotation lol
-
I'd put Trammel and Jazz slightly higher but overall pretty accurate. Evan White has a beatiful swing and gets to everything at first he's just so outclassed at this point.
-
Was running my FS in the event trying to get there Online Stats. Brujan is just fun to play with, still need a couple of hits with him. Knocked Gorman's out in a few games. Marsh took a bit longer, but his speed and cannon are legit. Actually went deep with Alek Thomas his first 2 AB's. Haven't used him much since. I like his swing. Cannot for the life of me, hit with Trammell. Finally got my first hit with him. Hit decent with him vs. CPU though. Agree with you on Chisholm too. If he were switch, him and Brujan would be the same card. Little less power than Brujan, but he's hit 2 Clutch Bombs for me.
-
I've been starting Jazz for the last 2 seasons in WS, lol. If the dude had a prestige card it's safe to say I'd have it by now. Incredibly quick swing. Lots of nukes/great exit velo when squared.
-
Brusdar is better than Lodolo.
-
Jazz has been solid. Dane Dunning has been very good for me too. The FS cards have grown on me. I still need the Astros, pirates, cubs, Mets, and nationals.
-
I've used Lodolo and Brujan often and like both of them. I used Brujan at leadoff for a long time. Great fielding, decent bat, and speed.

Brusard is Fernando Rodney the starter. Outlier sinkers aren't as good because they dont break as much.

I would agree if his sinker was 3MPH slower. It doesn’t move at all. His secondary pitches are great since everyone sits FB/Sinker(like Chapman) but the Outlier Sinker isn’t all that good IMO. If he had maxed per/9s like chapman he would be the best, but poor control mixed with what I said put him where he is
-
Nice list. Jose Urquidy is very underrated though, you can keep guys off balance for a long time if used correctly.
-
For me the best is Nolan Jones by far, then Trammel, Lodolo and Jazz.
-
Out of these I've gotten Jones, Gorman, Jazz, Wright, Schmidt, Marsh, Dallbec, Hoerner and as of tonight Brusdar.
Chisholm has been my favorite followed by Jones. I like Gorman but I just don't hit as well with him.
-
This is pretty accurate.

Honestly, I've been waiting for a quick list of reviews of TA2 for a long time. Yes, we're well beyond this content at this point, but they're still somewhat relevant for some players, and for those of us that like to just give a card a shot in the line up, this is nice for reference sake.
And Lodolo still rules.

I will be doing a TA3 list relatively soon as well, but honestly I don’t know where to start. For me personally Hershiser is number 1 but 2-30 is going to take some thinking. I don’t WANT to put smoltz dead last but honestly it is looking that way
-
Chisholm and Brujan still (usually) start for me. Trammell is my speed guy on the bench/pinch hitter for the pitcher in lead-off situations.

Lol, yeah, they did Smoltz dirty. Not looking good for him this year in DD.

The problem with Smoltz isn’t Smoltz, it’s the way the game just decides to hang pitches for you. Because he is only effective because of his location ability, when he magically doesn’t locate a pitch, it’s a meatball. When he throws to his spots, he’s pretty good.

this is a good way of looking at it. I suppose the same could be said about Felix. Looks great on paper, but hanging pitches come too often and get mashed.
