Campaign to Re-Design Ranked Seasons

It needs to be re-worked...
The current system of rating points is dated, stale, and unappealing to most of us. Ranked Seasons needs a shot in the arm. Here's my proposal
NEW REGULAR SEASON AND PLAYOFF SYSTEM
-
All players start in the regular season pool whereby you must win 12 out of 20 games to "advance" to the playoffs. As soon as you win your 12th game, you're in, and move on to a Divisional Series best of 5. (Rewards tiers based on number of wins, culminating with a Wild Card pack if you make playoffs).
-
Divisional Playoffs where you have to win 3 out of 5 to advance. You only play other players who are also in divisional round, unless a similar player is unavailable in which case you would be matched up with the next available. (Earns a DS Rewards Pack if successful)
-
League Championship Series: Same rules as above, best of 7 (Earns a CS Reward Pack if Successful)
-
World Series: Same rules as above best of 7 (Earns a World Series Rewards pack if successful)
NEW PITCHER SELECTION METHOD (No more Kluber/Newhouser every game)
Now, rather than choosing your pitcher, you have to build a staff. Once you build your staff, you lock it in. Your staff remains intact unless you move on or are eliminated. Voluntary forfeits allowed.
- Regular Season: You build a 5 man rotation, and each man 1 through 5 starts in order regardless of opponent.
- Division Series: You build a 3 man rotation
- Championship Series: 4 man rotation
- World Series: 4 man rotation
You are allowed to bring in starters for relief appearances at a severe energy penalty imposed on that pitchers next start. Relief appearance will feature that pitchers current energy level at decreased velocity and break.
LINEUP CHANGES AND ROSTERS
I move for hitters to be moved in and out of your roster at your leisure, although Im very open to other ideas. The reason for the pitching restrictions is to implement more pitching variety into RS.
NUMBER OF ENTRIES
You can repeat the season as often as you like, although you can only earn rewards once per RS cycle.
LETS START A MOVEMENT! KEEP THIS THIS POST AT THE TOP!

RS needs a MASSIVE overhaul and everything on here is a great starting point. Having the total record show all the time is ehh and can be better by having these “seasons” of 20 or however many games. 20 can be perfect. The only thing I would change from the OP is once you hit the midway of the 20, you could be able to make changes to your team just like a trade deadline. Just 2 different locked periods instead of the 1. By the time a lot of us can really add some great players we might be close a finish and wanna add those players so the middle of the season would be great for that.

REMOVE THE LADDER
Make it based on win % it sucks so bad having something not go your way, lose by one in a game and literally need to play 2+ hours to get back to where you were then advance past it.
Make the DH every other month a thing again like they did in 15.
-
-
I miss the single ladder no rewards Ranked Seasons. Everyone played just to play.
-
I appreciate the time it took to think this out and type it, but personally I think the ranked seasons format is good as it is. Sure it could be tweaked but I wouldn't want an overhaul
-
I’ve thought about the idea of having durability actually matter. Not for injuries but if there was a stamina bar for position players. Would influence the use of your bench like you would in an actual season.
Then make it able to be 125 durability for guys like Cal who never had a day off.
-
@Serrato32 this could be a decent idea for an alternate mode but not a good idea for a ranked. Ranked is already intimidating and frustrating for a good amount of the community and this would only decrease the number of people participating.
First off, there would be a significant increase in top players playing casual/low tier players. Once they win World Series do they drop back down to the first level or stay in World Series. If they drop down they play easy opponents and destroy them making some not want to play ranked, if they stay in World Series the World Series reward will become almost impossible to obtain as the top would continually play eachother and even elite players would have a hard time going 4-3 against other elite players (especially with how the game currently plays) yes this format would be good for elite players but not for the majority of the community which means less money for SDS, so it would not be a smart business decision.
The tier system works for ranked seasons because for the most part you play people around your level, if your good you move up to the next level and the next level till you reach the level that tends to equal your play.
Yes, ranked needs some working but I think it’s more around points. Maybe having a set point marker for each tier. Say Division series give you 20 pts for a win but 10 pts for a loss playing another division series players. If you play someone in a higher tier you get a bonus in points for the win say 25 pts but a loss is 5. And vice versa for playing a lower ranked opponent, 15 points for a win, 15 points for a loss.
If you are a consistent World Series player and are bored with ranked, you can do a playoff format for the last week of ranked. Basically make the entry requirement making World Series in that season then have a playoff format like you suggested with only World Series players
I like your idea and thought process but just purely on a business sense it’s not a good idea, but may work as a separate game mode
-
Sorry, but you lost me on Divisional Playoffs best of 5, and World Series best of 7.
The last thing I want is to be matched up in a series with an opponent who is purposely annoying, bunt dancing or abusing R2 trigger all game.

Would people actually play if there were no rewards? That, and BR, is how a majority if people make their stubs.
Although I do think it would be less toxic by just having a ladder.

Not anymore. People are so enticed by rewards, nobody plays just to play.

Once you win WS, those players go into their own Legends league with other rewards and games played on legend for other rewards like currently.
Also instead of resetting back to regular season if bounced in a playoff round, only have to restart that series. That way the best players stay at the upper echelon while weaker players still try to battle their way through the lower tiers.

He doesn’t mean play the same person best of 5. Win best of 5 against 5 random people who are also in your division.

Oh, I didn't know.
Because then it sounds like either a BR version on steroids, or maybe Events on steroids, or maybe a combination of both. Instead of reconstructing RS tier infrastructure, I think they should focus on reconstructing RS gameplay.
