Has SDS ever given a reason why CAP can't be used in events?

Because it ruins the point. A CAP could no possible way fit the restrictions of any event except ones that are open to any cards. This is only the second event a switch hitting CAP would have been eligible for anyway

if you wanted to use a diamond CAP... but the silver CAP would have been eligible.

Like I said, no matter what overall your cap is, the switch hitter events and the current one was the only ones Caps would have been eligible for anyway. The point of events used to be to build different squads and try out fun cards. It turned into a prestige your cards sweat fest but either way CAPs defeat the entire purpose of events

there have been plenty of events where it's open to any silver or lower card, which your CAP could be used for.

One thing I like about events is that there isn’t a CAP allowed.
