Playing online, especially in this year's version, I've most obviously noticed the PCI that is supposed to match up with the swing of my bat is almost always incorrect.

Unless I don't touch the controller, and a pitch happens to come right through the breadbox....the placement of my swing is wrong 90% of the time. Even when I get hits. I get homeruns, sometimes, when the PCI shows me right in the middle of the right side of the box and the pitch is nicking the left side.

Is this just to support the false narrative of the AI outcome? The resulting animation has to have some support relative to what the PCI shows. Even though you know where you placed the controller (this is not guess work) the PCI location reflected by the animation shows it off enough (sometimes off a whole lot) to support a bad swing.

Or, is it a network issue? Playing online the game is not capable of accurately depicting your swing. Which, knowing the game is completely random anyway, that makes some sense as well. Your swing, typically, matters very little in the resulting animation pasted on your screen.

I just would really like to know because it's really troubling to me..and I would expect everyone..that no matter how you set the controller the AI is just going to do what the AI do. And, based on the rest of the game play, I'm "speculating" swing doesn't really matter significantly?

    Anyone?

PCI feedback window is also based on timing. so unless your timing is perfect your PCI will be above / below where your placement was due to the fact that its showing you where your pci was at the point of contact not where you placed it in the zone. So I THINK if you are early, your PCI feedback will be above your placement because it registered it on the way up from where you swung and if you are late it will be below slightly.

This is true, but desync plays a large part as well. If you’re getting false information on swing path or pitch location - by which I mean your screen isn’t showing exactly what the game is trying to project - How can you subsequently make appropriate inputs?

the same way you would in anything. by making adjustments.

If you're at a firing range and you are aiming center mass but missing in a cluster down to the left of the target. If you don't have the appropriate tools to re-calibrate your iron sights, your only option is to either aim up and to the right or foolishly continue to aim center mass and then complain that your gun isn't shooting straight.

Right, except it’s not even close to being a fair comparison. If you were using a gun that fired the bullet in a random pattern, sometimes straight, other times high, other times low, and it varied from shot to shot, as the gameplay in MLBTS can vary from game to game, how do you adjust your input accordingly?

What? C'mon it's nothing like shooting a gun at a shooting range. Why.. because at a gun range you're dealing with real world physics and consistent differentials.

In this game it's all over the place. I pull the controller straight up..it ALMOST always shows up-right. Sometimes significantly right..sometimes drastically. But, I know, I just pulled that controller perfectly straight up. Sometimes, a little more rare but not that unusual, I'll go up and it will show down. Sometimes I'll move down hard and it hardly shifts from the middle of the box.

It's so funky, there is no way to adjust. So, I'm assuming it's just more of the randomized game play to create parity in the game. More false animation to support a game script that takes competition out of the equation. It's like watching a MLB game on TV. You have about the same amount of control.

But, the swing is the core of the game. It's the only place a gamer can really make a difference. When it doesn't match your controller input, you might as well not even use zone.
