After 57 Stage 2 Showdown Wins, Some Recommendations
-
I just got disconnected from my NL Central showdown with the bases loaded, tied 15-15, and 19 outs remaining. Meanwhile my wifi is perfectly fine and my psn didn’t lose connection. Please fix [censored] like this first and foremost cause I just wasted an hour and a half of my Saturday.

Just about done with stage 2 affinity (a few more innings for the Rangers and Mariners left) doing 2 showdowns per team (except the last Rangers one, because I tilted today from bad luck) and thought I would make some recommendations for showdowns going forward:
Perks: it would be really helpful for SDS to spell out exactly what these do and I can see no real reason not to. What exactly does contact boost mean (is it 5 points to contact, 10%, etc) and how is it different from slight or significant? What does exit velocity boost do and how is the diamond one different from the gold one (if at all)? What exactly does rattled do (increase error chance by how much, or does it just reduce the super CPU fielding)? Etc.
Draft: there should never be an all diamond pitcher round as long as the end boss is always hitting. Also, you should never see a lesser version of a card you already have pop up (I have seen this a ton). Also, a little more consistency for the diamond picks would be nice (I’ve had drafts with Mantle, Biggio, and Reggie in the same pool and then a draft with wander Franco, Brooks, and 2 pitchers).
Moment Descriptions: please tell us EXACTLY what the situation we are entering is (ie who is on base and who is up) for each moment before we enter it so we can construct our lineup correctly. I shouldn’t have to keep a spreadsheet next to me for showdowns. This isn’t 1985 where things in games were a surprise unless it was covered by Nintendo Power, there are no surprises anymore, so just give us the info.
Moments Themselves: please no more hitting missions with “don’t give up a run/home run” anymore. You have zero control over whether the CPU hits a home run (I gave up at least 5 and perhaps up to 7-8 during these on perfectly placed 1st pitches to the first batter) and thus it really exemplifies the lack of user input mattering in the show.
I agree with everything you just said. I literally laughed out loud when I read the part about how we shouldn’t have to keep a spreadsheet next to us for showdowns. And especially the moment description. Lastly the missions where you can’t allow a homerun it’s ridiculous! Those always bite me in the [censored] always give up the homerun to the first batter

Great post. Congrats on finishing those up. That is a major grind.
I did a mariners MTO today because I couldn’t stomach the idea of doing more than 10 al west showdowns. Can’t imagine doing 57.

I’m going to dig back in after beating indians on AS for Vizquel. Hope it goes better than before.

I completed them all and once stage three is released I will spend the majority of my time doing that. I can’t stand playing ranked, br or events due to how shitty the game plays
-
I’m 100 percent with you on most of these and I’ll add- not having to make us pitch in hitting showdowns and vice versa.
I don’t keep a spreadsheet (but maybe I need to start). I usually pull up the reddit guide for the showdown I’m working on, on my phone, so I have it right there to reference.

Anyone having more luck on stage 1 after the changes? I just finished the first boss in the AL West, Hendriks, and noticed his changed.

I did the AL West 3 times yesterday after previously struggling with ohtani and verlander

After 40+ Showdowns myself, all I can say is these are very good suggestions

Agree on everything. I have been so frustrated with Showdown that I was not even playing it for over a month. I finally gave in and gave it another try. Had some luck and progress. So my complaint is that there should be no part of this game that frustrates you this much. Sure some people are much better at this game than others. But making someone want to pull their hair out of their heads is not how it should be. Make all levels simpler, fun, and somewhat of a challenge. I also think there should only be one Boss and work to beat the rounds to get your added runs. That way you're not losing out the stubs and round in the first boss. That is what stopped me from playing it in the past. You work hard to get you stubs, you start the grind out well to be taken down right away, makes me turn the game off sometimes. Not good for business
Now the having two versions of a player has to stop. I had got a Soto diamond player and later was offered his gold version. The problem was all other players offer were worse than what I had. So I took a gamble that I could add him to my line up. Well, you all know what happens there, no second Soto. Please put in some kind of code in there to not let this happen. Not cool, and again takes the fun out of the mode.
Also, when you are playing a Boss and square up or perfect swing and the CF makes a crazy diving catch that in real life would fiscally never been able to get to a line drive hit so hard, has to stop. To many time something like this happen and when you have 5 outs left and runners on the base, this just takes all the win out of your sail.
I will have to give the showdown grind a bigger chance after reading this. It has helped my TA but I didn't realize that so many others were griding it out. I hope it can be fun because I do think Showdown has a big promising future if they just listen to us.

@bhall09 i played the AL East this morning, skipped a few moments went into Cole 8-15, got my 8 runs in 12 outs. Took about 45 minutes. Much easier. I woulda never went 8 / 12 against Cole prior to the change, it was hard for me to go 6 / 20 prior
