Pitching Tips for Events
-
I don't play online very much. Have had the games for the past 5 or 6 years and usually just enjoy building a team and playing the computer. This quick count event has me grinding out Team Affinity innings because I love doing collections. While I am mainly grinding it would still be fun to play a competitive game every now and then that doesn't seem like a homer run derby for my opponent. I'll also add that in my very little experience with ranked seasons I have done ok with pitching but this event is horrendous for me. I realize my limited skill limit and don't even bother playing the World Series and Prestige folks anymore. I paint the corners and have tried everything I know to. Any pointers? Anyone else struggle with pitching during this event?
ETA: I'll also add that it doesn't seem to really matter how skilled my team is. I've run my best team out there and then a bunch of bronzes and a few silvers and Chipper (to grind) and the results seem about the same against the same competition. I don't get it.

Yes, it's on all star. [censored] shoot with pitching anyway. Pitch speeds are bad and people sit on the straight one and punish everything.

Played a lot better before the patch. Now any input is hit out over the wall. Also any fastball ya throw is now fouled-off. Gotta go out there and put up a ton of runs. It’s kinda garbage currently imo.

Is All-Star online the same All-Star setting as offline? I know player skill level is different than the CPU of course but it doesn't seem the same to me.

It isn't due to connection/etc. Some play pretty true to CPU but most have some sort of lag/delay.

@NCStateHokie Something to try...Down and in sliders are really useful since everyone is always opposite hand of the pitcher. I also found staying on the outside half for any hard stuff is better than trying to come in most of the time, since a lot of people seem to be early. Also, since the quick counts are on, there are a lot of itchy trigger fingers. So, don't be afraid to throw a lot of balls in the dirt in the first two innings.
Obviously, you don't want to be predictable. But, that was where I usually stayed unless it was obvious the player couldn't hit an inside fastball. I am by not means great. My best run was 6 wins. But, I did get to 40 wins and I found it to be a lot of fun.
