Auto Shift and All Star difficulty
-
Now I am probably one of many casual players who will play MLB regardless of how the upper tier of players consider it horrible. I hated to see that the wind was taken out of the game as it is one of the elements of the real life game that will either help or hinder pop ups. Now people want to take the auto shift out of the game amd completely remove All Star difficulty too. I sincerely hope SDS would not seriously consider this. Just cause top tier players hate it and doesn't think it should be in the game is no reason to consider ever removing it.
This year was the first time in 3 years of playing that I've finished in WC division and I'm showing improvement. The downside is I'm in All Star. In my mind the tiered difficulty system is in place for the people who wanna work their way up and not get thrown in to playing people who are on a higher level.
The auto shift is used in the real MLB so taking it out of the game is pretty much violating part of the contract to keep the game as true to the real thing as possible.

I have it turned off permanently. Every time I used to have it on, the player in question would inevitably go opposite of the shift anyway.

First, I don’t think many want All Star removed completely from the game, they just want that difficulty removed from their options once you’ve made it to higher difficulties.
Second, shifts are absolutely used in MLB, however, they’re aren’t automatically enabled. The manager makes a decision on which shift they want implemented for whatever batter is up. I have no problems with shifts in gameplay, I do however have an issue with the default being automatic based on some arbitrary programming that the developers defined. Ranked season is a competitive mode, and as such, should require the player to use their own brain to decide how to compete against different players, not be given a crutch to level competition. In your scenario, it would be like the MLB telling the umpires to automatically place the fielders into a shift based on the MLBs stats and metrics.

Easiest way to regulate difficulty. If you're rated in the 400s, then you only play people in those guidelines. 400s play 400s. 500s play 500s, 600s play 600s, etc

That doesn’t really fix the issue that high level players complain about, if 600 was on hall of fame then your solution might be viable but for someone that lives in Canada having the game search geographically First like it does I don’t want to have to wait longer to find a game to have it be someone only in the 700s if I’m at 700, plus why at 700-800 would I not be able to play someone in the 900s that I can beat for those extra points?

How do you permanently turn it off??? Because I have the same problem with the oppo bloops/weak grounders and would love to permanently disable the shift.

Nobody wants all star difficulty removed, for the most part higher level players want along the lines of this;
- Universal pitch speeds across all difficulties except legend (current hall of fame pitch speeds, or hall of fame+)
- Not to have to play on all star to start every season after just playing on the highest difficulty (have 600+ be on hall of fame)
- Make all star less forgiving on bad input

Settings
Fielding settings (where you set throwing interface etc.) I think it’s second from the bottom you can turn off the auto shift -

This I can agree with. Thanks for the input guys,
