If you don’t want to be involved in 10-15 slugfests don’t even bother with RS. Played a couple of games yesterday where we each had 10+ runs. The only game where it was less than 10 was because we both had Kluber going. At this point to win a game on All Star difficulty you’ll need to score at least 10. Pitching is not even a factor anymore lol
I won my last AS game 3-0. I had 11 hits, the other guy had 1 hit. Pretty easy game. Learn how to pitch and your life will be easy.
Lol!!! You just played a bad player
I've played almost 200 RS games, my era is below 2 with every pitcher I use. Really, learn how to pitch.
Well the pitching in this game is unreliable to start out with. I use meter and any minuscule deviance from the exact meter and the pitch ends up down the pipe. Now with the update, all pitches get sent 400 ft regardless. I’ll actually take you on your offer. What do you do pitching wise
I use Pulse, but I've been using it for years. Every pitcher has a different tendency, so learn how the ball reacts. Example: With Bob Feller, if you spot is slider just below the outside corner with a good release, he will leave it a little high, and dot the corner perfectly.
Feller's fastball is really accurate, so put it where you want it. He tends to hang his curve ball and change up, so put them a decent amount below where you actually want it.
Pay attention to tendencies, then adjust accordingly.
All input types work fine, so just go with the one you do the best with.
Most importantly, pitching is a mind game. Never repeat the same sequence twice if possible. Tunnel pitches once every few innings. And exploit your opponents weaknesses. Find what they can't hit, and make that your go to pitch when you need a strike.
Also, using an opener is a great way to scout your opponent before you select a SP. You can see his lineup, and what kind of pitches he struggles with.
That’s actually all really good insight. I guess don’t pay too much mind pitching wise because even when I try to locate stuff still leaks towards the middle. But I guess I should pay more attention to tendencies. Appreciate the reply

Hit me up if you want to chat in a party sometime about it, it's easier than trying to type it all out.
I'm jealous of all you guys that can hit so well, I've been terrible at it, but I'm finally figuring it out in the last month or so. If I could score 4 or 5 runs a game I'd be doing really well this year.

It's really helpful if you are paying attention. I tend to pick a RP with a high velocity FB, and at least a couple types of breaking balls (Change up, Slider is my preference).
You can see what they chase, and you can see if they're able to time up the FB. Based on that, you can then decide if you want to use a finesse breaking ball pitcher, or a power FB pitcher.
Now, if I'm facing someone who uses an opener, I give them bad information on purpose. I swing at things I would never normally swing at, and I let pitches I hit well go.
It's a chess match!

I still can't score runs. Have played about 5 games post update (AS level in RS so I assume that uses AS difficulty?). I think I've only scored 4 or 5 runs so roughly a run per game at best. Why am I so terrible? Is there any hope for improvement?
I honestly stink at hitting as well. But I’m getting better. People say to practice in practice mode but I just can’t seem to get myself to actually do it due to all the other things to do in the game. I’ll tell you this much, I bought a gaming monitor and it’s helped immensely with timing.

Thanks for sharing....it's nice to know I'm not the only one that struggles. I agree with what you're saying in terms of practice mode....I've been told to work on things there but am too buys trying to grind all the various things in DD.....but seems maybe I need to bite the bullet and just practice to get better.
I've wondered about getting a monitor. I currently play on a TV and it's relatively old so I'd like to think that is part of my struggle.....but part of me worries that if I get a monitor I'll find out that it was me that is just terrible all along, haha. I'm not a big gamer (pretty much only play this and sometimes FIFA)....but maybe it is worth getting one to see since I do spend plenty of time playing this and struggling online.
Cheers

I’m not much of a gamer either but I have been playing the Show since 17, mostly offline since I’ve never been too great online. But have been playing a bunch this year due to quarantine so decided to purchase a monitor (use it for work also so it was kinda needed anyway). The games been more enjoyable and I don’t get blown away by fastballs as easily as I used to. Worth the purchase IMO if you plan on playing the game a bit.

You sound very similar to me. Not a big gamer but a big baseball fan. Started playing in 18 and hooked now. In the past I was mainly an offline player but want to start getting better online. Spend enough time playing that it probably is worth trying a monitor rather than continuing to waste my own time being bad. Thanks again for the insights.

I am in the same boat. I'm getting crushed at the plate. Too late on fastballs and too early on breaking balls. It's embarrassing. I played a game last night where I had something like 8 of the first 10 batters strike out.
It is frustrating, but at least I don't blame the game. Clearly, plenty of my opponents can hit well. I will keep practicing.
I'm hovering around 400 and wish my rating would drop so I can at least face more opponents that also struggle with pitching!

well said mate.....and yea, I can certainly identify with all you said. Constantly hovering back and forth either side of 400. Can't hit a fastball to save my life.....really want to get better but feel frustrated and hopeless when I finish a game with only a couple of hits. I'm intrigued to see whether I can get better with a monitor but not sure if I can commit to that.....but as you say, I accept that I need to improve and don't want to blame the game as the guys I play against seem to be able to hit. I'm just not sure how they do it....I genuinely can't fathom how some of these pitches are hittable.

I’m playing on a projector, probably should get a monitor but love the 120 inch screen too much. Just faced the Dodgers future star pitcher, he is very hard to hit, and then Kluber comes out of the pen. But somehow pulled a 1-0 victory!!

The monitor may help, but I'm not sure. I'm using a 2 ms monitor, for what that's worth.
Good luck!

Sounds like you are doing quite well for yourself. I tried to find you on the leaderboard so I could see some of your game logs but you weren't there. After that I decided to look you up on psn. It appears that you are playing mlb the show 19 still and not 20. Am I correct?
