    RE: Update 1.11 Discussion

In about 35 games post-patch online(12 in Ranked Seasons and the rest events), here is my take on what I've noticed.

    • Perfect-Perfect is no longer a .800 success rate like was talked about in the developer streams. I tracked for five games through ranked, and my perfect-perfects were 5-10. (Last night I lost a game where my opponent hit an HR on P-P, but my P-P with Chipper Jones off of Patrick Corbin was warning track power).

    • Good/Okay is so much more common, with no real understanding of why it is rewarded. I've seen 4 HRs on Good/Okay below 90 mph exit velocity. Yet, Good/Good and Squared up balls are dying consistently in the outfield.

    • Pitching is extremely frustrating. 0-2 count, put the ball (changeup, curveball, etc.)in the dirt hoping for opponent to chase and two things happen... a) they are very early but still somehow make contact for a foul ball. b) you get proper pitching release, and the game decides you didn't want in the dirt, so it hovers up to clip the bottom of the zone, and it's ripped for a hit, HR, or out. It's just frustrating when it feels like the game is deciding for you.

    • I'm not a programmer by any means. However, I'm confused about how the game played so well at launch, and now here we are. I feel like the only thing that needed to be buffed from the get-go was pitching. But instead, you tuned down hitting, which has completely changed the meta of the game. At the beginning, you could get strikeouts, you felt rewarded for your PCI placement, and you were okay with a little randomness with pitching. Now, it's like we're trying to play catch-up with these patches when the only thing needing to be touched was the pitch accuracy slider.

    • Fielders are still not locking onto the ball near the wall, causing random triples/doubles when the ball is only a foot above their head. The homerun banner yet isn't fixed. Eighty-five-speed guys just jog down the first baseline on an infield grounder, and the 45-speed guys make it a closer play on the same groundball.

Things IMO that will greatly improve this game.
    1. Hall of Fame pitch speeds throughout every mode, w/ bigger PCI on lower difficulties. (Legend difficulty good see a bump in pitch speed.) There is absolutely no reason for offline pitch speeds to be different than online, or Ranked Season's pitch speeds vary from 600 to 700.

    2. Fix the lag in Major league stadiums. I think the game was designed for MLB stadiums and the minor stadium's dimensions/algorithm are causing >92 MPH exit velos with good/okay contact to be HRs.

    3. BUMP the pitch accuracy slider.

    Edited:
    4) Why do I have to steal with a guy on first just to do a sac bunt? The speed window for running is off.

    Gamble paid off!

It's taken me two MLB the Show cycles (18 & 19) to finally understand how to make stubs in the market. I invested about 300k into the market, which brought my stub total down to 125k. I then had to sit on my investments for a few weeks, but yesterday I finally cashed out at 605k (minus the 125k and my return was 180k)!

I then splurged on some players to make a run in Ranked Seasons as I sit at 740. Welcome to the team Mike Trout, Chipper Jones, Shane Victorino, and Aroldis Chapman! Now I sit with 93k stubs in my account lol

RE: What if quirks were changed to power ups?

Maybe for an event, I could see this work. Make your team, then get a random 3 round draft of power-ups to use.

It would absolutely never work in Ranked Seasons or BR. Nobody wants that in those modes.

Hype for the first few Ranked Seasons

My favorite part about a new MLB game is able to jump almost directly into Ranked Seasons with live series cards. I don't why, but I think the game feels smoother and more enjoyable with the live series and non-end game cards. Can't wait for the game to drop

    Miss inside edge

I know that with everything going on in the world, this is a -5 on a scale of importance right now.

But I hope everything gets back to normal soon for inside edge to be back for DD. (Also, would mean the season would be live too!!) Especially at the start of MLB 20, it would play a significant impact because most people are using LS cards. I've always liked inside edge because you could put gold over a diamond in a lineup with their inside edge being so high.

    AA for Packs

Hello, my name is Matt and I am addicted to packs. Despite not pulling a diamond in my last 100 (couple 20's and 10's). Even though the stubs I waste on packs, most likely could just buy me the player from the market...it's just not as thrilling, especially when that shiny blue pops up and for a split second you think, "I've done it. This could be Trout I've never pulled him before, so this is my chance." Then crappy Springer shows up and you remember why you hate packs.

RE: How do I improve pitch recognition
    1. Custom Practice is your best friend. Most times when I log-in I spend 5-10 minutes in it. I started on all-star, and I have gradually moved to legend difficulty (you can also make dynamic difficulty as well). I don't get hits consistently on legend, but then when I jump online, the ball is slower and easier to catch on.

    2. You have to also think about what will be thrown next. Once an at-bat, I'll press R2 to remind myself of the pitches that the pitcher has. If it's a 0-1 count and you were right on a fastball, chances are it's going to be off-speed (vice versa). As you are playing in RS, you will notice what people throw the most, and you got to sit that.

    3. Like the guy above, you have to find the camera angle that works best for you. Play around with them.

    RE: What grinds my gears
    1. (a) You are player locked as Granderson, so all you do is hit? It took me like 30 minutes to finish them... (b) You don't have to play the CPU. There are missions for playing online that can replace those points you get.

    2. That is frustrating, but use them for exchanges in team affinity. That way, you can get some use out of them.

    Lindor straight yacks

I sucked with Francisco Lindor in MLB 19, but I got him this year after pulling him in a 30 bundle. I figured I'd give him a try again, and this year I'm just going off with him. In roughly 50 at-bats, he has 10 HRs, 20 RBI's, and is batting .310. All I do is contact swing with him as well. I must just have his swing done, but man he is MVP so far for MLB 20 for sure.

    Great BR team!

I drafted a great BR team last night! Minnie Mimoso, FOTF Justin Turner, LS Gary Sanchez, LS Joey Gallo, LS Jorge Soler, LS Edwin Encarnacion for the lineup. Then have 4 or 5 bullpen silvers, with a 1 gold (can't remember who).

I can't wait to play with the lineup and most likely lose the first game... insert crying emoji

    AL Central Collection worth it?

I packed Francisco Lindor and I rake with him. I can't decide if I want to lock the collection in or not. I've knocked out all the other collections for the division (Tigers, Royals, White Sox, and Twins), so the last one would be the Indians.

The only player I would need to buy is Jose Ramirez to finish off the collection. I just can't decide if it's worth locking in 40k for Cody Allen and Walter Johnson. I probably won't be aiming to complete the collections, since I really would only want Sheffield out of the collection rewards. Mantle would be nice but seems like a whole bunch of stubs to lock in for non-sellable players.

RE: AL Central Collection worth it?

Oh true, didn't realize about the stubs from central part of the collection.

Yeah, I saw Johnson's per 9/s and was kinda like "blah." But I guess, since other then the Indians, it isn't too hard to collect. I might look into selling Lindor to complete a different division with a better overall reward. For example, NL central or AL East

I chose Rollie instead of Kluber because:

    1. everyone has him
    2. my pen was weaker than my rotation
    3. I get another choice later
