On one hand, it's understandable that team owners want to make money.

On the other, if you have $100B, eating $50-$100M a year to make a decent team is not a big deal. If you create a competitive team, you will draw fans. To paraphrase the saying: 'If you build it, they will come'. 😉

The most interesting thing I've heard, is the Dodgers saying they won't make an offer to Skubal because they are anxious about the impending salary cap.

Since when have we heard of LA worried about salary? 🤣
