I was born on LI, grew up and went to school in Boston and am nearing retirement (7 years or so away) just over the border in NH. My Papa, my Dad’s Dad, was from Greenpoint Brooklyn which contributed to me being a lifelong Dodgers fan. On my Mom’s side, my Great Uncle Steve who passed way two years before I was born was Whitey Ford’s landscaper back in the day. He actually attended his funeral in 1966. Needless to say, my Mom’s side are all Yankees fans. My neighborhood friends were all rabid Red Sox fans and wondered why when I was 10 years old I was wearing a Davey Lopes tee shirt. Ha ha. I’ve been away from the game for many years but have been playing like a maniac since the end of April. I know there are a lot of issues but it still has all the raw materials to be the greatest game ever…except, of course, for the real thing. I’m gonna stick with it until my Wife physically rips me away from the Xbox because I love baseball and I remember for a while when there was no baseball game and I was forced to cut the lawn or something ridiculous like that.
