Maybe the high end competitive teams won't use them but I there are people who still use theme teams, especially for offline content like conquest or mini seasons.

There are still 4 to 5 months worth of content to go, almost all will be 98s or 99s. Expecting every release to eclipse every other card in the game is unrealistic.

The first post I saw on the multiplayer program rewards was someone asking for more Brewers. I am guessing that person will use Braun, at least for some of the content

Noone will use Braun with Belli, Andruw, and Beltran around.

Everyone will use Honus Wagner, cause stealing is still broken.
