I think failing a Stadium Challenge should come with a penalty, not an automatic quest failure. Losing half of your treasure chest rewards would still make failure matter, but it would let players continue to the second stadium and challenge. Right now, ending the whole quest immediately feels unrewarding and unnecessary. Similar to the change made in Showdown.

Worst case, I don't get the card, but keep my treasures. I just keep playing until the card eventual falls my way on rookie. At least I accumulate some packs in the process.
