Someone explain how directly to CF is a bad thing? Anyone? The timing windows need to be adjusted so we can actually get decent hits. You shouldn't need to get a perfect-perfect to get a good hit. A good hit doesn't need to be 110mph just let me shoot a line drive up the middle and not some [censored] 70mph bloop.

I get that’s it’s a video game but your hitters shouldn’t all be hitting 400. Sometimes you are gonna square up a ball for a perfect perfect out. Sometimes you might hit off the end for a weak hit.

Not perfect, but pretty good. A lot of people don’t seem to understand the physics of hitting a baseball.

If you want it to be somewhat realistic there are gonna be bad hits and balls that are squared up and still outs.

Both of those are the result of different things.

If you are perfectly on time and hit a weak hit to CF, your PCI was under it.

If you get a 103mph fastball on the inside, the perfect/perfect is going to be pulled, it will never be pushed, and it will hardly ever go to center. If it goes to center you were kinda “late” which doesn’t mean…bad

Not every hit can be labeled perfect. Perfect is determined by the timing of the swing based on the pitch and its location. If the same pitch is away, inside, or in the middle of the plate, the “perfect” is going to be slightly different as well as what the game labels early and late. If a different pitch is middle away or inside the timing changes.

If you play someone that can’t catch up to a fastball, throw a sinker low and away and watch how far it goes “perfectly” because they were actually LATE which is EXACTLY what the game wants you to do with a sinker low and away. I can get bad players free runs when I’m up enough. Give them pitches the game wants to be late on and they’ll stay crushing the ball lol.

I’m simply saying that good late and even early timing can go to CF because hitting physics are more complicated than you seem to understand. I’m far from an SDS apologist. You just sound like you’ve never hit a baseball.

Sinkers do break. So can fastballs.

You're really determined to argue your opinion like you work for SDS. Everything they do with this game is not perfect.
Why do sinkers still act like breaking balls?

The physics mlb uses would assume there is no hip movement or change in the angle of the batter’s foot landing. I am pretty sure hitters don’t just try to yank an inside pitch and the green window shouldn’t be in front of the squared up bat. The hitter would open their hips on the swing or adjust their front foot landing to enable them to square up the ball.

Those swings always feel incorrect to me as well.

Whether the PCI is inside or outside the ball matters. Also, there are varying degrees of good, late etc. I’d rather them have a zero for perfect, negative number for late and positive number for early to show a more precise representation of timing.

Also every squared up ball doesn’t automatically result into a hit. This is the one sport where you will fail most of the time.

When your bat is perfectly parallel to the plate and you drive it directly into CF and the ball is within your inner pci it should be a good hit. Driving the ball to center is good timing and because you're a millisecond outside of the "good timing" you get a weak hit. The timing window needs to be widened. Straight up the middle is a good hit. That isn't being jammed. You might not be out in front barreling it out of the park at 110mph but it's certainly a good hit.

A ball to CF doesn’t automatically mean good timing. Hitting physics aren’t that simple.
