Showdown - The Worst Mode In The Game
-
Both DQ and Showdown need to be redone.
DQ’s reward structure needs to be fixed. The sliders in Showdown need to be tuned way down. If they want to make Showdiwn “tougher”, put higher rated cards in as the opponent. Not nerf sliders.

Or create a showdown mode where were the pitchers instead of the hitters. I think THATD be alot of fun!!

I didn't mind Diamond Quest as at least the moments broke up the monotony of the occasional showdown. It sucked to loose all your packs if you lost a stadium game but at least you could rush to the stadium and play a game without being at a massive disadvantage.
-
Moments are fine, but they should stat track so you get credit for the 13 doubles you hit while trying to homer.
I like Diamond Quest, but it's a bit too much of a stub machine. All easy and cheesy ways to make stubs just cause inflation and drive up prices

Are we voting? If so then I choose Diamond Quest
For me, it's Mini Seasons. I can tell which game I'm supposed to lose. It doesn't matter if it's Hall of Fame or Rookie difficulty; the lineouts and very late CPU hits let you know the loss will happen, and there's nothing you can do about it.

I don’t lose on the mode - but you’re 100% correct that difficulty doesn’t matter in terms of how you’re rewarded for contact. Plus, I’m done playing against Peru and everywhere else. Either give me barnstorming in Wichita, Louisville, etc. or get really creative and make it the WBC season next year where you play teams that are in the tournament- even if you have to make some guys up because you don’t have the rights. Playing the Lemurs and Cats is terrible
-
I’ve wasted a lot of my time on diamond quest without getting the rewards. I’d have to say that’s the worst mode for me.
-
Moments: B+ Past years would have been a C a best, but generally less reliance on moments, the restart change, and the extreme moments elevate them. However, only good in small doses. I dont think moments will ever be in a better state than 2025
Conquest: B+ Loses points for smaller maps, and i wouldnt mind seeing some more variety (theme teams instead of live series), but playing MLB teams is a big part of why the mode is good
Mini Seasons: B- Great concept, stats are terrible, GBL is boring, mini seasons were cut heavily this year. Also non sellable rewards. Why do all online mode rewards get to be sold but not offline?
Showdown: D Hey its better than an F because you can fail a mission now, but its still boring and prone to RNG.
Diamond Quest: F RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG and if your internet farts during a final game you walk away with nothing.
-
DQ is a goldmine if you can beeline to the stadium and bunt cheese + sac-fly on GOAT. Hard to do anything else because the RNG makes it almost impossible to string hits together. Basically about 100k stubs per hour.
If you played it normally, then you were held captive with the odds that often didn't pay off.
This was the ultimate rich-get-richer and poor-get-poorer mode.
-
Also, I wonder how the community would react if SDS ever fixed the bunt defense AI and the computer hitting AI (e.g. fastball up & in, offspeed low & away).
-
Diamond Quest serves the purpose of a rogue-like game mode well
Showdown presents a bit of a challenge - it’s called showdown for a reason

Not remotely.
There is no element of progression beyond the peanuts which dont add any variety
If you got to carry over some buffs, and then get new ones that would go a long wayAnd again there is the issue that the servers arent particularly trustworthy.
It needs iteration, to allow for a sense of progression and to give the player the choice to not have it be all showdowns and moments
-
Strike outs in mini seasons is all jacked up. The leader has 50 SO in just 5 total games played. That's not just improbable, it's impossible unless they had extra innings every game and pitched every game all game
-
@royalslover1967_PSN The stats have been messed up forever now
-
@Teak2112_MLBTS I agree that the perks should carry over. It would make it feel a lot better if you could atleast get a permanent boost to your team even if you lose a stadium game.
I would also argue that Showdown should have some sort of permanent boost if you fail a boss showdown. It would make it feel like you had made progress even if you lose everything else.
-
The only cards I do not have in the game are hidden behind Showdown. Cannot stand to play this mode.
-
@SayHeyKid_SF_PSN I feel your pain

@SayHeyKid_SF_PSN I’ll never finish the Spring Collection because….Showdown….
