Late on Fastballs in Online Play
-
How do I best time up fastballs in ranked seasons? The delay between when I push the button and when the swing actually happens is killing me. I don’t know if it’s the internet connection, monitor settings, or both but it’s almost as if I need to press the button before the pitch even leaves the pitcher’s hand just to make contact. Meanwhile I’ve played many guys where they are consistently early even on 102 mph outlier fastballs up and in. Any and all advice is much appreciated as I’m tired of getting spammed fastballs on the black game in game out. Thanks in advance.

It probably is your internet. And I’m not sure there’s anything you can do. If you see a good pitch, swing a little early, maybe?

Yeah I thought so too but we have solid internet and the ball just seems to skip. The game plays very different offline compared to online. Even fielding animations are very glitchy online and much smoother offline. Offline you can actually react but online it feels like you have to anticipate. Reminds me a lot of playing offline on a TV vs a monitor.

After a few games it looks and feels like swinging a bat under water. The timing window definitely feels much shorter as in lots of very early and very late. Not ranting just saying the game plays much differently and is not very responsive.

It’s not necessarily your internet. I have like 680 down and 80 up it’s a crappy/broken online component to the game.

Check your PS for your up and down speed. Even then, when I’ve played online a few times, it skips. I have Xfinity 500-600 down and 15-20 Mbps up. I write it off to it being my competitor's internet speed because I've played others on Xfinity and it's almost like offline. If the only difference between it being smooth or not is online play, then I'd say it's the internet. Are you hard-wired to your modem or playing wireless, because that can make a difference when you're trying to eke out every Mbps you can.
If you're still not sure, play a franchise game and see how that compares.
