Also no one is touching in the point of how it helps grow the game as well. Besides the obvious top prospects guys a lot of these guys are players that most people wouldn’t know who they are before they get to the league. I think it’s kind of cool that I was excited for future star Tyler O’Neil a couple of years ago and now it’s even cooler to see him doing what he’s doing lately
Bingo. After Julio Urias got his future star card I thought he was a bust for a long time. He's going to finish top 5 in the NL Cy young this year. You are going to have some busts from these future stars cards for sure, but a lot more of these younger guys that are being very productive in the league got future stars cards in the show than people think

Tomas Nido wasn't a complete miss, or really all that disappointing. I've seen a lot of Mets fans talk him up.

Instead of some unrealistic projection of what a player that never played in the majors could be in three years, let's have a "what if Babe Ruth had 96 speed" card. What if Keith Hernandez never did cocaine card. Orlando Hernandez throwing from 15 different arm slots, but now he throws screwballs that break like a slider.
Let's just max out every single card so people never have to worry about DiVeRsItY ever again. Trevor Hoffman throwing 102 mph sinkers, Ted Williams as a switch hitter. Topps Now and Future Stars arent too far from that ridiculousness. I guess we should embrace it, max out every single card, and now everyone can have whatever lineup they want with no limitations.
There are a whopping 3 Future stars cards that are used in ranked. 1 is winning the rookie of the year award, 1 is the number 1 prospect, and 1 legitimately has a glitched release. As much as people complained about topps now cards when Wendle and Grandal came out I've still seen more of George Brett. Lets not act like every lineup is full of them
At least Topps now is based off of an actual performance these guys get cards for being hyped
I don't know... I take more qualm with some of the more outrageous Topps Now cards more than I do for the Future Stars/Prospect cards -- well, except the ones that were and always will be a huge stretch like The Show 20's Team Affinity 2 Future Stars drop. I think they corrected that this year by not going too overboard on mid-range prospects.

I disagree. If Babe Ruth was alive today and played baseball he would crush. He wouldnt be able, nor would want to have the lifestyle he had 100 years ago. things are different now. His nutrition and exercise would be totally different and his knowledge and the people with knowledge around him would be totally different.
Yeah. I dont understand how some people believe it would be impossible for older players to compete today. I suppose if you are talking about dropping them in for an at bat, they would struggle, but given any amount of time to adjust, they would still be elite players. Same as the pitchers from today. They wouldnt last back then, having to throw complete games every 4 days. I'm sure they would have to adjust to perform and stay healthy.
Every 4 days? How about 2 complete games on the same day like Cy Young (and others) did? I'd be interested to see DeGrom throw 18 innings in one day.

Well, we were talking about Babe Ruth so I was going with pitching norms during his timeframe. If you wanted to go back further, there were players like John Clarkson, Pud Galvin, and Old Hoss Radbourn throwing over 620 innings in multiple seasons back in the 1880s. They would throw every other day, and sometimes both games of a doubleheader like you are talking about. Now very few pitchers even get to 200 innings in a season.

You can’t be serious. If you drop Babe in right now? No probably not, but let’s say Baby Ruth popped out around the time Trouty was born then yeah he would be right there if not better. It’s hard to compare that era to now, but the training regime is night and day difference. Babes regime was cigars, milkshakes, and hotdogs. But you are right in a way.. it is all fantasy, but at least Babe or any legend has numbers to back it up.

The purpose of "Future Stars" cards is to provide MLB marketing. For MLB to survive and flourish, then it must market its future. The NBA has College Basketball and March Madness, while the NFL has College Football and Bowls. Meanwhile, MLB has College Baseball, the Minor Leagues,....and The Show.

To me HOF cards should have insane ratings, they're HOFers. Should a prospect be rated higher than a guy making the All Star team? Maybe rate the prospects lower but give them a higher parallel system, kinda like getting called up and performing well. Get a gold rated prospect and play him into a diamond and so forth.

First off, we were talking about them in real life. You act like legends wouldn’t be able to hang with today’s stars.. Give them everything this generation of players has and I think they’re just as good.Your acting like Babe Ruth of the past wouldn’t be Babe Ruth of now. Do you think Degrom or Verlander would throw as hard or have the spin rate they do now, IF they were playing back then? No.
Second off, I like players and legends that have cards based off of something. Are they perfect? No. Could some have better or worse stats? Yes. But they have stats to build from. I don’t like cards of players who haven’t proved a thing and are all based on a projection. When they come up with a card for a legend or flashback of a current player that’s in the league, at least its based off of something they’ve done at the highest level. I really don’t care what someone has done unless it’s on the big stage. Gonna be honest though, I’ve eased up a little on how I feel. I’m alright with a few lower diamond guys. But having Spencer be up there with other end game cards? That’s whack to me, just like having a cap in Diamond Dynasty. When it comes to a baseball video game, I’m just someone who likes more realism and less of a fairytale. Certain cards are special and mean something. Why is a future stars card as good or better than a Sig card or an award card? Doesn’t make sense. Babe, Verlander, Feller, Trout, are they from different eras? Yes without a doubt, but you can tell me what they’ve done in their MLB career. It’s fine if you like where they’re going with cards, I’m just voicing my opinion and saying I don’t. Maybe too you were pumped about a 17 or 19 year old getting a card, but I’m not.
