Pujols has the right batting stance but the wrong follow through as the previous gentleman stated. Would be nice to get it fixed.
I have been asking them to fix that number and follow through for weeks. Looks weird. They dont care about artistic integrity. I wouldnt really care if this WASN'T the greatest Cardinal hitter of all time and one of the top 5 best hitters in the history of the game.
Hmmm, that’s a bold statement that is purely subjective.
Pujols IS one of the best 5 hitters to ever play the game, not even a debate. Now PLAYER is different when we're talking the full package like Mays, Mantle. Different convo all together
I agree and so do the traditional numbers. I'm sure someone will jump on and tell me that WAR and OPS+ and other equations that have deromanticized the game tell a different story. I'm sorry though, the name of the game has always been run production. He is the machine. 5th in home runs, 3rd in rbis, 5th in 2Bs, 14th in runs etc. etc.
Only 1 of 3 players with 2,000+ rbis 3,000+ hits and 600+ HRs.
Only player ever with 10 straight years with .300+ avg, 30+ HR and 100+ rbis. He missed the 11th year by 1 rbi and a .299 avg.
Throw in 3 MVPs, a batting title, 2 gold gloves, 2 world championship and 10 all star games. I'm not saying he's THE best, but he is among the top 5 hitters.
I also agree that if you take the whole package, position played, defensive ability, base running, Obp etc, he slips down the list, but not far.
All true! And if it weren’t for a guy in San Francisco, he’d have 6 MVPS’s!
Big facts

Well since you mentioned it... there’s right at 50 retired players that have a better career wRC+ than pujols. It’s the best metric we have for measuring purely run production, and it stands for weighted Runs Created. Being park and league adjusted means it’s perfectly fine to compare players across eras with it as well.
Now remove his time with the angels, and it’s a different story. He jumps up to 8th all time if his career ended after 2011.

Wrong in game number and wrong swing, he needs a one handed follow-through.
Looks weird
They’ve literally NEVER had Mike Schmidt’s stance right. He stood in the back corner of the box, not on top of it as the show has it.

I live 20 min east of STL. I watched him for 10 years! There was no one like him! His last two years here, it was obvious he was starting to decline. I’m fortunate to have seen those first ten years!

Same, I grew up in the STL area and left about 6 years ago. But he was an absolute unit, his time in Anaheim made people forget about his dominance in the 2000s.
