First time I've ever seen this animation

Playing Showdown. Usually I would be griping about some silliness the AI did to get an advantage. This was different.
Guy on 1st, one out. Keith Hernandez is on 3rd. He had a double and was advanced by Forsythe. Computer corners in. Details..details.
Anyway, getting to the point. Sizemore hits it directly to the 3B playing in. You got slow footed Hernandez coming down the line. I'm just expecting Hernandez to get thrown out at the plate or the typical double play. I mean..that's when the AI typically manufactures this animation.
Nope, 3b picks up the grounder...looks Hernandez's way and could have thrown him out by a mile..instead goes to second to get one out. Doesn't even try to get Sizemore flying into first.
I dunno..again, I'm a little impaired right now. Perhaps that didn't happen at all. If it did, that's a very rare sign of the computer making a stupid play to give the player the lead.

I was playing Showdown earlier today and had the bases loaded with 13 outs remaining and tied 15-15. I hit into a double play (shock) but the crazy thing was the CPU didn't seem to realise they needed to go for the play at the plate. Obviously I won 16-15 despite grounding into the DP. I thought it was weird with the game on the line that the CPU wouldn't even try to throw me out at home.

Don't know if that's a generous attempt by developers to address reports, or just one of those random things.

Nah.
The AI is just setting the example for our youth by always putting the Fundies (Fundamentals) first.
