Also worth noting, it feels like Semien has what’s been getting snubbed in previous games. But when you were the third place for MVP in your previous season and now you’re 3rd or better in position player WAR, something has to give.

Seems like almost every stat on this card is underrated and I hope dearly that SDS gets this right, he’s 3500 rn and I recommend the investment

What hurts him is the fact he's still listed as a SS even though he's not this year, and they gave him stupid low arm strength. No idea where that comes from either. I've watched every game this year and he has a great arm. He's a fantastic defender really.. as his metrics show.
SS heavily weighs arm strength. If they were to simply make him a 2B he's probably diamond without any upgrades....

It’s ridiculous, I’m a Yankees fan and I saw what he did to us. He was an average or below SS, but he’s a great 2B

He was a great SS defender actually, over the past couple years. Positive UZR since '17. Particularly awesome in '19, his big year..
He was terrible at SS in the beginning, but improved greatly thanks to Ron Washington.
Some of that might have been helped by the fact he had the best defender in the sport (Chapman) next to him, and Olson scooping everything at 1B...

His defense not being even 80 is a crime

    Looking at his stats

He started the year as a 80 overall
He hit .211 in April and was knocked down to a 78
Me tore it up in the month of May and in the two May updates they raised him 4 points to an 82.

The slow start definitely hurt him and no way they would bump him from a 78 to an 85 in the two may updates regardless of how hot he was. Theoretically the ratings should have more to do with consistency over a hot streak. He will most likely be bumped again the next update but I question a 3 point upgrade. First 5 games in June he is batting around .263.

I am guessing he is an 84 next update. Of course SDS does not show us changes to fielding and defense stats. If those got bumped then he would definitely have a better chance of being diamond. He plays a position where defense is weighted more heavily.

Yeah, I agree I thought of him as defense over offense during free agency honestly (better than Simmons offensively). I hadn't noticed how bad they made his card 😕

If they fix his position to 2B, what it should be, that would shoot him up alone though

Yeah, they have always been slow to change positions on batters. Curious what their criteria is. He has only played SS prior to this year so wonder if there are a set number of games he has to play at 2B to override the previous years SS time.

His PotM card gonna be a 2B then?

Should be, simply because he has basically played every game at 2B this year, except for a couple games at short to give Bo a rest

They did the same thing to Vlad too. He was actually listed as a 3B right up until he went diamond and got a POTM card last month.. and he played all 60 games last year at 1B.. hasn't been a 3B since '19.. and I wouldn't call him a 3B then either lol

I do believe they’ll actually get it right and make him Diamond, if anything the downgrade was premature
